| I know, but her biggest dream is the gold medal, and the Sochi skating camp will be much harder than the Vancouver camp. I hate it that sometimes she doesn't get enough credit for her smooth-as-silk footwork and balletic style, the wonderful body expression, the fighting spirit and the courage to achieve perfection. She's so much more than 3 axel. | |

I'm with you in this, absolutely! She has the courage to try a 8-triples FS, even if she knows she can't land all of them cleanily, she had the courage to change coach and change everything about her jumps/spins, something most of the skaters don't do at 20, she has grace, elegance, she is a complete and now finally mature skater, one if the best in history about this!

Sochi is going to be insane! So many amazing talents competing for gold. I can't wait! I agree, she's so much more than 3A, but until she and especially the media realize this, it's not going to make any difference. I admire her for her courage to go all out and not playing safe, but I also wish she'd stop sabotage herself with 3A that are not ready.

| I kinda don't want to think about Sochi! I used to feel that if she doesn't win gold at Sochi, I'd lose it... But now anything is possible - I think this season will be a teaser of what we are up for in 2014! | |

| lets hope that Mao sees those vegetable, somehow as a symbol of how hard work and patience will bear fruit at the end.
I for me part, hope the silence means that Mao is training and preparing in peace... what i find strange is why Mao wasn't with dai, suzuki, and taka when they where having this arrangement where they looked back at there previous performances, it would have been soo interesting to hear Mao's comments on those performances.
anyway JO is very near and i am soo excitet to see her compete, every minute she is on the ice is very precious for me, and it makes a whole lot of difference to watching a competition with her, then a competition without her, regardless of how prepared she is.

| The food looks yummy! And Mao looks sooo cute in the chocolate cm. I don't know if anybody here is familiar with maison ikkoku, but looking at those pictures made me want to see Mao with a piyo piyo apron. Next part of Machiko Yamada's interview : http://hochi.yomiuri.co.jp/column/shirota/news/20120913-OHT1T00169.htmMrs Yamada says Mao is bigsisterly towards Kanako (with an air of importance ), and Kanako is the only one who can enter Mao's room during competitions. | |

If I'm not mistaken, this interview was translated here: http://ohheyjamiee.tumblr.com/post/31503521137/yamada-sensei-talks-about-kanakoIt's a very fun interview! There were some interesting things mentioned, like that bit about TAT. And this: - Quote :
- Yamada: Everyone always treats (Kanako) like the baby sister. Dai-chan, (Ando) Miki-chan, (Suzuki) Akiko-chan, they all love her. Miki-chan would always endearingly call her “chibi” (laughs). Oda-kun and Kozuka-kun are always listening to her going on about something or another. So, I’m wondering if this is a good place for her to be at. Mao is like them too. Mao’s always, “Kana, come with me!” or “Kana, let’s go eat!” She’s always going “Kana Kana Kana” (laughs). During competitions, Kanako is always the only one in Mao’s room. When you look at the two of them, Mao proudly looks like Kanako’s older sister (laughs). Well, that’s just how those two are.
The whole team is like a family, and Kanako is the baby of the team!

| I moved the discussion about the Jessica avatar to the General Talk forum. Btw, TAT mentioned Mao in a recent interview: - Quote :
- EV: Mao Asada came to you this summer as well?
TAT: Yes. I choreographed her free program. Then Mao came again because in summer, the ISU Technical Committee had once again changed the rules, and the program had to be changed to fit in with the new requirements. For some reason, technical committee does not consider the fact that most programs is being set in May... I even wrote a letter to Ottavio Cinquanta about it (ISU president- EV). Including the fact that I think it is not quite right to make any changes to the rules a year before the Olympics. Incidentally, we discussed this with Irina Viner, and she told me that in rhythmic gymnastics all the changes in the rules are terminated two years before the Games. I think it is much more right. As far as I know, the changes were proposed by a Canadian coach whose students I will not name you - just because I do not know any. I must say that I was struck by the statement explaining the need for change: "To make judging easier." If judges have so much trouble telling choreographic sequence from technical, let them stay home. Translation by quiqie from FSU. thumbsup The whole interview can be read there. I agree with TAT, it's ridiculous that the rules which significantly affect the program structure are introduced halfway through the off-season. Not only many of the skaters are forced to travel and pay their choreographers again (and choreographic sessions aren't cheap, especially for less accomplished skaters), but fixing the program to fit the new rules often makes it look disjointed and/or not fitting the music well. I'm sort of worried about Mao's LP now...

| man i can't believe we will get to see Mao in a weeks time i'm getting soooo fricken excitet to see her compete again. can't believe that she still hasn't announced her music yet it will probably be released just before her actual performance. she sure has kept all the cards hidden this season. quite unusuel for Mao, but i don't care, i am sure she will make any kind of music work she skates to. Her presence at every competition she enters makes the whole event a highlight of the season for me. Mao just is the only skater in the world that has this speciel effect to me.
it kind of is scary to be emotionelle so envolved with ONE skater lol, Mao just is a true treasure, but how can I not look forward to see true art on ice. This offseason has surely been long, hope someone will put Mao's practice clips on youtube soon. does anyone know when the skaters will arrive at JO.
by the way i am not surprised to see Mao at the top of the survey list anything else would surprise me. Mao just is an open book which is probably why one feels so emotionelly envolved with everything she goes through. I hope that we will see Mao beautiful smile after this competition and every other competition she enters
