Carolina Kostner's Scores at 2008 Worlds Overrated?

I think that the system is at fault, not so much the judges... If you look at the PCS and GoEs for elements they awarded the highest to Mao and Yukari...
I think the problem is that fully rotated jumps that are poorly landed (step out, hand down, fall) are still worth a lot. Meanwhile underrotations (even those not visible without slow-mo), bad take-offs and even a milisecond too short held positions are very harshly penalized.

I agree with Dick Button - a jump with a step-out is not a properly landed jump. I think that if Yukari just flung herself in the air full-force she would be able to rotate the jumps, but would not be able to check it and ended up stepping out or falling. Good control on the landing is IMHO as important as the take-off and full rotation and it makes no sense to me that it is penalized so much less harshly.

In the end, I think both the audience and the commentators (who have watched FS for tens of years, so they should be able to judge how good the performance was) were completely baffled by the results. But I don't think it's Carolina's or the judges' fault so much as the system's. I really did not enjoy it this season, because it totally ignored how beautiful or how difficult the programes were, but only cared whether the positions were held for 3 seconds and not 2,99. Mao should've been 1st in the SP. It was a huge misjudging, however, I like Caro as a person. I'd like to see Caro make the world podium once again this year with Mao queen

Not only, Carolina Kostner, Yu-Na Kim also overrated both SP and FS.
I thought Yukari deserved at least bronz.
