| Three gold medals in JGP Torun! Good job Kanako, Yuzuru, and Narumi/Mervin! Yuzuru's skate wasn't clean, but he had no falls, and landed all of his 3A's with positive GoE (in fact, he landed a 3A-3T in the second half of the program). His scores are the highest out of the juniors so far by a considerable margin. Kanako also posted the highest scores out of the junior ladies, with Polina being the only other competitor with comparable marks. What's noteworthy is that Kanako most likely had a perfect skate - her only negative deductions are on her combo because of flutzing - she also had no UR calls, which is a great accomplishment (it's not as though the caller wasn't strict either, because the other girls had numerous DGs looking at the protocols). It looks like T/T nailed all their throw jumps. | |

| Thank you Clovera. I'm so interested in Kanako because she is like sister go after Mao as we once see in Mao's clip when she was young. I like her jump in step sequences and I think she will make us enjoy her program in a different style. I really want Mao to do that too but it seems that Mao is not good at jump in step sequences as she once jump like what Brian Boitano or Sasha do (I don't know the technical term of that 180 degree-jump) and also this Kanako's look-back jump.
Yuzuru is also good and I can see donut spins both left and right foot and finally Biellmann spin from him. If he can prolong his flexibility with more speed with them, it will be nice.

| THanks so much! again. i'm so happy for Takahashi and Tran ! ! Did you guys watch Ivana Reitmyerova FP dress? http://www.dailymotion.pl/user/shah85/video/xahyqe_ivana-reitmyerova-svk-isu-jgp-toruy_sportIt looks just like Mao's SP dress at worlds in 2008! Don't know what to think about this :S haha. Because I think that when you're at this level, you can't copy someone else dress... I don't really care if a little girl at a little competition comes out with the same dress as her idole...but when you're junior and senior at the international level...?! | |

Perhaps she is not intended to copy mao. Do you know a Chinese Junior pair skater Duo Cheng/Yu Gao? The girl's LP dress in 2007-2008 is quite similar to Mao's original LP dress in that season. But as far as I know, it's just an coincidence. But,uhmm, this is a little bit different. I've no idea about this

Well, it does look like the exact same dress. I'm sure nothing like that can be a coincidence, but I'm sure it wasn't meant with any mocking/bad intentions. I'm sure it was done only because the girl greatly admires Mao...but still, I agree, at that age one should probably not try to copy the dress of a top skater only a little older than you >__> On the other hand, it's good to see Mao is such an inspiration to all ages And thank you, clovera for the videos! I was really excited to see them and very happy when I logged on to see that you posted them!

| OMG!! I remember seeing Ivana Reitmyerova at Worlds! She was the one skater that really, REALLY reminded me of Mao in terms of grace, lightness (and body type)! And she did the same spiral sequence (fan spiral) as Mao. I thought it was just a coincidence back then, but I guess she must really idolize Mao! I thought she was cute. | |

| Wow, this is definitely not just a coincidence! I'm not sure what to think of this but I guess she's not hurting anybody but possibly herself. Are there copyrights on dresses? I also remember being surprised by her Yunona y Avos SP. The music was exactly the same as Johnny's. I know everyone must skate to Carmen, Tosca, Rach 2, Romeo and Juliet etc. at least once in their career but this also seemed somewhat copycatish to me. | |

I think it's a copy. If you look at the back, you'll notice she has the same diagonal openings as in the front. Mao only had those in the front. It is a very pretty dress though. But I do agree that at that level, costumes should be somewhat exclusive unless given to you.

| JGP Belarus ResultsThere are so many Russian ice dancers in medal contention this JGP series it's crazy! Congrats to Polina - she had a ratified 3S-3T in the FS and once again established herself as a competitor. Yuki had a great comeback from 6th place in the short to 2nd overall as well. This should be more than enough for Yuki to be given a 2nd JGP assignment, and hopefully she can make it to the finals (Kanako and Yuzuru were recently assigned to JGP Croatia). ETA: Yuki got JGP Turkey. | |

| Great job from Polina! Her costume drives me bonkers, though. It's as if the designer saw Miki's "Samson & Delilah" costume and though: "Great! But Hm, it's way too understated. Let's add some pants, boot covers, half-skirt thingy... Hm, still something's missing. Oh year, let's add a headband!" I was worried about Yuki after SP, but she had a great comeback in the LP. I was surprised how close her score was to Polina's, who had 2A-3T and 3-3. I hope Yuki continues to improve her jumps. I'm a bit worried with the Japanese ladies still getting "e"s for their flutzes/lips. They all have great skating skills, but suffer from faulty jumping technique. Maybe they should consider seeking help from some coach known for helping their students to fix their jumps (like Lee Barkell). | |
