| Analizing the recent trends in figure skating, the result of the upcoming Olympics looks obvious: Plushenko will fall on his 2axel attempt, and Oda will grab the gold. | |

Well, unfortunately Dais wasn't present at this competition to satisfy your/our thirst for greatness, so all we can do here is to congratulate the actual winner with his remarkable achievement. -P Way to go, Nobunari!

| So sad to see Denis messing up his jumps. I've been rooting for him after watching him in THE ICE. He seems good friend with Mao in team TAT. :joker: I hope he can do better next time! | |

| Wow! Akiko won. I'm so happy for her. Same to Nobu! What happened to Mirai? Ouch! Just got a look at the protocols and she's been hit with a number of ! and < marks. And Carolina... Looks like she won't be going to the GPF, too. | |

| Oh, I couldn't be happier with the result!!! ...Ok, maybe a little bit! I LOVE that Akiko won, and I hope that making the GP this year will give her the upper hand in the war for the third Olys place with Fumie and Nakano. But I am SO sad for Mirai. There is such quality to her basics, such beautiful spins and spirals, but she just can't get the jumps together. I hope she has a better competition next time! | |

| On TV broadcast, Shizuka said that she designed Akiko's FS costume! I think she did good job. | |

| Nobu is ON FIRE I am rooting for him to win gold in Tokyo. Mirai!! I love her programs this year, well, I always do, but I think the pressure got to her here. The top 4 below her were only a 4 point range lower. Akiko's gold was unexpected to me, I have to admit, but I am so happy for her! A big confidence boost! As for Shen/Zhao...I am speechless~ Belbin/Agosto were just wonderful as usual. I can't say I like their OD as much as last season's xD I am excited to see them face off against V/M. | |

| OMG! Akiko won!! I'm so happy for her. And she was gorgeous out there too. I need to watch both hers and Nobu's programs in better quality.
I'm really sad for Mirai. Almost all of her triples were hit with a <. That's gotta hurt. I hope she can manage to rotate these jumps for Nationals.

| Kirk has a point. It seems to me that the new scoring system does encourage skaters to 'play it safe' and aim for less ambitious programs. And it's not even a case of 'quality, not quantity', because skaters with the higher quality programs aren't necessarily the ones getting the higher scores.
Kirk highlights this well with the Kiira/Mirai scenario. A scenario that does this even better is what happened to Mao at COR. I remember someone on this forum saying that Mao would have gotten a high score in her SP if she had done a single axel instead of getting downgraded for her 3A, since in the latter case her 2A wasn't counted at all.

| Jennifer Kirk was commentating on US TV for Cup of China, and she sounds like a teenager--it definitely threw me off. Her commentary was fine, but her voice was so high-pitched that I was like, "OMG, I'm listening to a child!" chineseteacup - I see your birthday passed a few days ago. Happy Birthday! You're now the same age as Mao! | |

| Oh, thank you, Batsuchan! I didn't think anybody noticed, so I'm humbled, I really am. Heehee, I keep forgetting that Mao is older than me But only by a little bit! | |
