Kanako popped the lutz but rest of the program was clean!
Good job skating last in this stressful event. Thumbs up!

Nope, but everyone here is pretty inflated. Also, even with the fall it looks like Akiko attempted seven triples compared to Yukari's six (I think).

But I'm super glad for Mao, Akiko and Yukari! I wonder who's staying home between Akiko and Yukari. I just know that I might cry for who stays.

Drama!

Sigh, true. Both of them are such talented skaters, it is sad for any of them to stay at home. Too bad there is only a max for 3 spots. Crying or Very sad

OK, the scoring at this Nationals is on crack... I'm so happy that Akiko has placed 2nd and Yukari got big scores because I love them, especially Akiko... But such screwed scoring really spoils my enjoyment from the skating...

I really feel bad for Miki... Internationally she would get higher PCS/GoEs for landed jumps. And adding a 3S-2A sequence was so smart... I hope she gets the last laugh at the Olympics...

OMG! I was dreading reading posts and scrolling the pages real slow I was so nervous esp when I read about Yukari's score. Then I saw the post that Mao got 204 and I just shouted like crazy here. YES!!!!!!!!!! Worship cheers Woot! Happy dance Cheering Confetti Hell, no!

I'm so happy I'm about to cry. waah! My 2yr old niece just arrived home from vacation and was showing everyone the gifts she received when I casually said Mao will skate. She dropped everything and didn't know where to look for my laptop. Now she's running like crazy whenever I say Mao's name... told her I'd call for her when it's Mao's turn to skate. Hell, no!

But this is quite heartbreaking for Akiko or Yukari... only 0.17 difference? Gosh! Somebody posted that the Olympic team will be named by 9pm. Is this JST?

Yep. I'll let you know when it's time - there's about an hour and a half left until the JSF makes the decision. silent

Agreed.

I feel torn...I like both Yukari and Akiko a lot... No Panic!

But I'm still reeling about Mao! Confetti Confetti

Yukari and Akiko both have the same PCS score: 63.28 Akiko got higher TES, though, even with the fall.

Good thing they're already qualified!

It's a good thing. It's a bad thing that the rule "those who have already qualified must show up for Nationals or they lose the berth" is in place. What was the point? To humiliate the qualifiers? "Yes, please show up. We'll give you about the same PCS that you receive internationally, while boosting your competitors PCS by kazillion points and downgrade only your elements. Good luck." Nice payment for actually bringing Japan the most medals this season. Japanese Nats PBP/Spoiler Thread - Page 7 Rolleye0015

Nationals show the international judges who does the federation support... We've seen how fast Takahiko's scores dropped when he was no longer Japan's no 1.

I hope the case will be more like with Yags, whose federation disliked him so much that he hasn't won even a single one National title... but a bunch of international ones. Wink
