Daisuke is planning another surgery in May to remove a 'bolt' placed in his knee. He will be off the ice for a month.

I hope it won' t be difficult for him when he comes back. Good luck!

I've just realized how much I love him as a skater at this Worlds.
He's always been my favorite but my appreciation for him is still growing everytime I see him.

When he keeps it together he is just perfect!
He's the absolute embodyment of artistry, musicality and interpretation to me. I just love his style and he has great jumps too. Simply amazing! Swoon

I never thought I would go this far but he might actually just be surpassing Yagudin in my book and that's really saying a lot!

Daisuke was asked about what motivated him to win gold, and also how he feels about next season and answered:The biggest thing which pushed me was a word from my coach saying 'If you don't buy a ticket, you'll never win the lottery' which influenced me a great deal. After the competition was over she said 'See what I meant?', and I felt that chances are for those who willingly achieve them. You never know where those chances are hidden, so I won't give up before trying in the future as well as this time. The will to attempt under any circumstance was refreshend inside me. This gold medal will most likely make next season a harder one than ever, but if I can still win, I can be confident that it'll be according to my true abilities, so I feel stronger than ever in wanting to get better.

Mao was asked what this victory meant to her and she answered: I was able to be more confident about myself after winning gold in this competition. Next season will be tough again, but since we'll be having Worlds in Tokyo, I'm really looking forward to it. I wish to do my best so that I can deliver another fine performance there.

What a great way the season ended!
I hope everything goes fine with Dai's operation, more than anything!
They'll both be appearing in an ice show in Nagoya next month...they must be exhausted by now, though!

He recently told in an interview that during off season he wants to go to swim in the sea, learn dancing (not sure what kind of dance) and get a driving license.
The interviewer said 'sure, if you get a driving license, you would be able to go out more easily..' (I think she meant that he would have more fun going out) but the he said 'yes, I would be able to go to the rink by car'.

Oh my~ what a guy! skating is everything for him ! Cheering

I finally got my driver's license when I was in my early 30s, friend!
And since that's probably why I crashed my husband's car in the beginning of this year...Dai should get his license while he's still young however much he's busy with skating! You rarely have the guts to actually drive after getting a license at a late age, most people like me turn into paper-drivers.

Before I go to sleep, I happened to notice some news on Dai. I'm so sleepy but posting this, since I know how much all of you girls out there just loooove Dai!

It seems he's going to have , or at least hoping, Shae-Lynn Bourne to create one of his programs for next season. He seems to have said he also wants something made in a jazz number! Sounds pretty cool?

I remembered Shae-Lynn Bourne skated to Michael Jackson melody when she was still competing. I was thinking that Dai's style will go well with MJ's music. Actually, I would really like to see Mao to skate his music too (at least for an exhibition) flower

Sorry if someone has already shown this video. I found this video of Dai and Miki before the DI show. It's funny because the narrator says that Dai is relaxed and preparing for the show but you actually see Dai and Miki just laughing and making fun of Dai's choreo. And see how all other skaters are watching at both of them.

Rough translation:
