- ISU World Standing Bonus 2007/2008
26 Mar 2008 13:05 With the conclusion of the ISU World Figure Skating Championships 2008 the winners of the ISU World Standing Bonus for the 2007/2008 season have been determined. The ISU awards additional prize money to the three skaters/couples per discipline having earned most World Standing points during the 2007/2008 season. The following amounts will be awarded to the concerned skaters/couples:
Ladies & Men Pairs & Dance (per couple) 1st: US$ 45,000 1st: US$ 67,500 2nd: US$ 27,000 2nd: US$ 40,500 3rd: US$ 18,000 3rd: US$ 27,000
In the Ladies, World silver medallist Carolina Kostner (ITA) earned the World standing bonus by accumulating 2581 points. World Champion Mao Asada (JPN) came in second with 2320 points. World bronze medallist Yu-Na Kim (KOR) picked up 2172 points to finish third in this season’s bonus race.
Daisuke Takahashi (JPN) pocketed the top prize in the Men’s category like he did last year. He collected 1995 points and edged Kevin van der Perren (BEL) by just 1 point. Johnny Weir (USA) finished third at 1955 points.
World Champions Aliona Savchenko/Robin Szolkowy (GER) took the World Standing Bonus for the Pairs with 2650 points. World silver medallists Dan Zhang/Hao Zhang (CHN) are ranked second at 2200 points. The third place goes to World bronze medallists Jessica Dubé/Bryce Davison (CAN), who got 1955 points.
Ice Dancing World Champions Isabelle Delobel/Olivier Schoenfelder (FRA) earned the World Standing Bonus with 2498 points. World silver medallists Tessa Virtue/Scott Moir (CAN) came in second at 2063 points. European Champions Oksana Domnina/Maxim Shabalin (RUS) are ranked third with 2040 points. I don't really understand how this whole thing works but if anything i think Mao would have gotten more points than Carolina this season.

| Kostner competed at Finlandia and Nebelhorn this season as well as her 2 GPs, GPF, Euro's and Worlds which is why her points total is higher.
Whether B comps should be counted is another matter entirely though.
However if you look at the ISU World rankings, Mao is No1 in the World. | |

| Wow Carolina had a busy season then! Good for her that she seems to have been injury-free this season compared to the last truncated season due to injuries. I am also glad that Carolina did better than the previous season. I was expecting that she would have a breakthrough this season and she did! I am so happy for her! | |
