| clovera thank you so much for the links Mao_Asada_sunrise, welcome to the forum and thanks for sharing the video! I´m fan of Mao since 2007 and I've been monitoring this forum since March, the same that you. I signed up in March, but I have not posted anything until last month, because I am not really good with English. Last month I read the topic about the video for Mao Birthday and I decided that I wanted to participate!!! Now I am really happy to be part of this forum and give support to Mao all together | |

Because JO, as with basically every single skating event that is broadcasted in Japan, isn't aired live. The event was already under way in the afternoon and finished a few hours ago. Deep Edge is a reliable source - they keep their own unofficial results pages, particularly for non-ISU competitions (mostly those governed by the JSF such as Nats that do *not* have live results) and the data is compiled from skating fans who actually go to the event. Relax - this is the opener for Mao who has been reworking her technique for the majority of the off-season and just got to program run-throughs recently. Expecting perfection this early on is just not realistic.

| OMG.... Mao tries 3lz and 3S, that's ok. Her jumps aren't the best but the season is just started My only question is: where is the coreography? She is very slow... Poor Mao i hope she will be able to' do her best the NeXT time... I'm just worried | |

? This program had by far more choreo than most of Mao's LPs combined. The longer intro, the steps leading onto most of the jumps except for 2A-3T and 3A, very few crossovers, an outside-to-inside spread eagle, excellent spiral sequence (the highest GoEs!) leading into 3S, much better use of arms and facial expression, the running edge entry into the final spin (messed up, but it's going to look beautiful with more practice, I think). She skates faster than before, too - watch her edges and how quickly she covers tyhe ice. She run out of steam a bit in the second half, but that was to be expected - nerves and being upset at herself for missing her jumps probably influenced Mao's performance a lot.

I thought the exact same way! Right now, she messed up on most of her jumps and her last spin, BUT when she finally nails them, just imagine her score! Not just that, her performance improved dramatically! I couldn't agree more with you! I think it was just her nerves. That's better to know that it's just her nerves than knowing that she doesn't jump well at all. She did great in practice, so we just wonder what happened on the final performance. I'm sure Nobuo Sato will fix that with her! I can't wait three weeks from now in her first Grand Prix competition! I hope she skates clean in both programs at least!

| I'm not worried about her jumps at all. She's always started like this. If they decided for this layout, it is because she could do it in trainings, so she can do it in competition. Plus, she had a planned layout under Nagabuko, and now it seems Sato changed it, it's also difficult to deal with IMO. | |

| Oh I'm soooo glad for Mao, I think she is more comfortable this season as compared to the past, jumps and choreography wise. And the reduced stress will certainly do her good too Oh i just can't wait for her GP season to start!!!!! | |

| First I was afraid but then I remembered that just few days ago Mao said that the most important thing she learned last season was that no matter the difficulty of the challenge, if she really try at the end She´ll do it. We have to remember that changing her jumping technique is not easy, it´s a process, gradually She´ll do it better. She can do it ´Antes del amanecer se pone más oscuro` (Sorry I don´t know how to say this in English) I believe in you, Mao!!! Thanks for your brave heart!!!!! | |

| NHK Trophy will be held in Nagoya, hometown of Mao. So she think she can get power from her hometown audience. She has an idea to bring back all jumps. She is looking forward to performing and think that she should have to do good performance too. | |

| Some fun polls. I've found that Japan seems to enjoy doing polls on almost everything. http://community.livejournal.com/aramatheydidnt/1288305.html You need to scroll down to random web polls to find Mao's name. She is listed in the "cute younger sister", "celebs that look good in pink" and "favorite bachelorette". She's ranked no.1 for favorite bachelorette. | |

- Mao interview
http://www.nikkansports.com/sports/news/p-sp-tp0-20101004-686471.html Thank you for the news, kirakira! ETA: Love this interview of Mao!!!! There's a direct quote from Mao about her jump adjustments: 浅田 理想は初めて(05年の)GPシリーズに出たころ。小さかった体形も合っていた。他の部分は今より下手くそだなと思うけど、ジャンプは今より高さもあった。その時のジャンプを少しでも思い出せるようにしたい。練習では手応えが出てきたけど、まだまだ完成じゃない。半年、1年、2年ぐらいかけてやっていかないと、思い出して安定してはできないと思う。She mentions that her jumps in 2005, when she first debuted in the senior GP series, is at the ideal level. Compared to now, her jumps then were better, even though she has since improved in other aspects of skating. She hopes to try to get back to the level she was in 2005 (jump-wise) [I have difficulty translating the part "少しでも"; not sure if I can translate as "even if it's just a little bit" because it also indicates a tone of humility when Mao says it) It may take half a year, one year or even two years for her to finishing reforming her jumps and get them stable. My Japanese is only good enough to understand the main idea; would appreciate if someone could translate it for everyone to read. Here is another one done after Team Japan's Press conference yesterday about NHK Trophy GP: http://hochi.yomiuri.co.jp/sports/winter/news/20101003-OHT1T00302.htm (真央、横浜で再出発…) And another one about Mao's coaching arrangement: http://www.daily.co.jp/general/2010/10/04/0003504933.shtml (真央、NHK杯へ“通い婚”で突貫工事) Definitely a very interesting read; covered a lot of important info about the coaching arrangement, Mao's views on her jump layout after JO, Mao's personal aspirations as a skater. Seems that Team Mao is seriously considering the possibility of making Yokohama Mao's training ground(even mentions the possibility of having to buy a mansion there) so that Mao can stay longer and receive more training sessions from Mr. Sato personally. ( Needs a fluent Japanese reader to confirm this though...) Did one of the article say that Mao only met with Mr. Sato one or twice a week before Japan Open? That would probably explain Mr. Sato's shock at Mao's performance at JO. (しかも初戦前は週に1、2回の指導しか受けていなかった。) One another note: Is it just me? I feel that Mao is coming out of her shell in the interviews recently. Before, I feel that a lot of what she says are humble, clear and honest BUT quite repetitive. Now, she seems more at ease and self-assured.

(しかも初戦前は週に1、2回の指導しか受けていなかった。) If that's true, then my feelings that Sato and her were still in the "getting to know each other" phase was probably right. I think it's a good idea to relocate her training center if it means more training sessions with her coach, especially since she doesn't have Nakagubo to moniter her at her present location now.
