I can't read Japanese, but the poster,urara, left this post and cited this article concerning Mao's illness: http://sportiva.shueisha.co.jp/clm/o...k_3/index3.php (in Japanese)

The writer of this article also noticed that Mao was not fine and looked tired on both days.
And, yes, Coach Sato replied Mao was not feeling well.

Mao will never make excuses about it, though.

I didn't intend to begin this journey.
Japan had always been half a world away
till one day I saw tears flood my television.
A beautiful ballerina battling back with triple axels.
An angel's wings descended from the heavens
at Worlds 2007. Was it joy or heartache,
or a bittersweet mix of the rich tapestry in between?
Radiating symmetry and expression in each motion.
A brilliant vision of perfection I had never imagined.
A genuine spring of emotion flowing from a soulful source.
Men with microscopes squinted to see a touch on the ice
invisible to me in real time and subtracted a point from paradise.
The value of her axel took a big hit in the new system.
Her expectations deflated backstage her tears began again.
So the tide of Mao's world on ice turned in an epic ebb and flow.

いまだかつて想像することのできなかった完成への躍動するヴィジョン。

それは高貴な魂からあふれ出てくる感情の純粋な泉
Men with microscopes squinted to see a touch on the ice
氷へのひと触れを見るために細部にわたる顕微鏡で
invisible in real time and subtracted a point from paradise.
リアルタイムでは目には見えず、パラダイスから点を減点された
The value of her axel took a big hit in the new system
彼女のアクセルの価値は新しいシステムの中で大きな一撃（成功）となった
Her expectations deflated backstage tears flowed again.
ふたたび舞台裏で流される涙で小さくなった彼女の想い。
So the tide of her career began its precious ebb and flow.
そこで彼女の経歴の大きな波はその尊い引き潮と満ち潮を動かし始めた

Your welcome, whiteboots. Thanks for the translation and for being an inspiration along with Mao. Though I can't understand, it is an honor that you took the time to do it and it is beautiful to see. I have changed a couple of lines slightly to make it flow better and to bring out more imagery with water and light. I really am concerned for Mao. I hope she is getting better. I wish she would rest, get well and not face another competition now. But just as I am a worrier, I know she is a noble warrior, so my guess is she will go through with it. Get well soon. Mao, save up strength, and if it is your choice, come back strong at Nationals.

Your Silhouette is such a beautiful poem, whiteboots. I am really impressed! I almost went to Trophy of France but I had said that I was going to go somewhere else so I decided not to go at the last minute and regret it a lot now, but I was so lucky to see Mao in Finland. I hope you get to see her skate live sometime.
