| Mao looks great and solid. But then again, she has a reputation for having brilliant practices year-round so its really not a surprise is it? Haha. I'm close to being flabbergasted at this point at the number of skaters withdrawing or are being replaced again. There's Kiira, and Griazev + Lucine being replaced by Lutai + Deslot in the men's event...eeek. I am especially looking forward to Masquerade. Knowing Tarasova and Mao's continuous flowing skating, I think it'll be an amazing triumph once perfected. Aside from Joannie who's looking very solid, most of the ladies in this comp are in it to "redeem themselves" so to speak. Elene, CaroZ, Bebe, Emily...the bronze medal will be a close battle I think. I'm not even going to bother assessing the men's event because its such a huge toss-up. And go Kerrs in ID! | |

I think there's nothing more difficult than trying to keep up with the fast paced music for the entire program. Most skaters use music with varied tempo, with slow music to nail jumps and rest, and fast paced music usually reserved for footwork and spins. And they do so in spite of not having nearly as challenging jump layout and footwork as Mao has. This will be definitely the most challenging program Mao has ever tried. And, for that matter, the most challenging program than any lady has ever tried!

| Another Mao fluff:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WzUSC9TWM-wShe says that the entrances to her jumps became shorter and she gets more height in her jumps. I like the position at 4:49... Possible entrance to the step sequence in "Masquerade"..?! | |

| I'm nervous as well. I wonder if Mao has arrived to France already? The competition starts tommorow, so she should already be in Paris, I think? I wonder if Tatiana is with Mao... So many questions, so few answers... | |

This article says that Mao will be arriving in Paris this evening (the 12th) and will participate in the official practice on the 13th. http://sankei.jp.msn.com/sports/other/081112/oth0811122124009-n1.htmIt's strange that i was very nervous for Mao a couple of weeks ago, but not so much now. My worrying for Dai's condition seems to have taken the edge off my worrying for Mao. But, i'm sure i'll be nervous as hell by Friday.

In one of the newest videos Mao does 3Lz in a program run-through, and although she has an overturn on the landing, the edge looks great. But gosh, does the program look busy! Transitions, into Lutz, into 2A - everything in the very fast rhythm of the Waltz. I can't stop wondering how will the jump layout look like - in the program run-throughs she did 3F, 3F-3T, 3L, 3S, 2A, add to that the planned 3A-3T and you have an impossible jump layout. I think the clips came from a few different run-throughs and the program kept changing...

| Does anyone know when the practise is today? I'd love to hear some reports. I'm also relieved to hear about the 3A and hope Mao has two wonderful clean programs! | |

| Woah, the layover camel! I thought Mao has gave up on it after she didn't do it at "The Ice" show, but it turns out she took her time to improve it instead! | |
