OMG, kirakira, thank you sooo much for those last pics; they are amazing! Where did you find them? Especially the pictures of Team Japan backstage and at the Korean restaurant--priceless!

I meant to say earlier that I was happy to see Reiko Ogawa so involved and supporting Mao at 4CC--did you see her standing with Shanetta at the rinkside when Mao was competing? (Ogawa-san is the lady on the left side closest to the table in the last picture.) That reminds me A LOT of 2008 Worlds, when Mao didn't have a coach, so Ogawa-san was supervising her practices...

And coconut, thanks for the video link! The woman on the video was soo excited; it was nice to see a Korean fan of Mao! At the end, I think she said "I was so moved"!

People in Japan erase or scribble over people's faces when posting pics on forums or msg boards if that person is an "素人" or is an average person. It's to try to protect their privacy. Have you ever seen "mixi"? It's a Japanese social networking service like myspace or facebook. If they post a picture of a concert they were at, they would block out people's faces that weren't of themselves or their friends because they didn't get permission to post it. I think it's more out of custom and not necessarily mandated by law. I've seen really large group pictures with people's faces untampered, but if it's a pic with few people they usu. cross out faces.

Thank you for the explanation! That's interesting. I guess it's nice not to post someone's face close-up on a picture that hundreds of people would be seeing (unless they wanted that).
