(Well you are full of surprises too right?) Pues que si. - kawaiimao wrote:

Russian, English...I think I also remember you writing in Korean, Chinese?, Spanish...and I'm pretty sure I still must have forgotten at least half of them! Well, not that many actually. Fluently: Russian and Ukrainian, also can speak English and understand Spanish. Plus the most basic Korean grammar. That's it. Bearing in mind that Russian and Ukrainian are very similar, and also the fact that it's really not that difficult to learn Spanish after English - not a big deal. If someone fluently spoke, for example, Russian, Korean, Chinese, Hungarian and English - that would be something. Anyone knows such a person?

| What a diverse, cultured bunch we have here! I fluently speak Japanese and English and read/write in both languages (although my Japanese writing skill is going downhill very fast), and I used to think I was doing pretty well... but oh boy do I feel like an under-achiever now!!! I have heard from a few sources that Japanese is one of the most difficult languages to learn, but it is hard for me to judge because it is my native language. But I think I do agree with the statement that it is fairly easy to learn to speak but writing is very difficult... I have always wanted to pick up another language or two, and you guys are inspiring me! | |

It does not sound awful at all! I love Nintendo DS's Edutainment series! May I ask, what is your favorite DS game?

It's a close tie between the FFIII remake and FF: Oooh! So there are still hard core FF fans out there afterall! The FF series have really been going down hill lately. Alot of Japanese gamers have given up on it. It's turning into a movie more than a game, and the CG movies are gorgeous but it's hard to make out what's going on in them. I don't play it anymore. I liked the the little short characters in the old days, but now they're all hollywood star fab, but they all look the same to me. Now it's all shocking , how all of you have turned out to be geniuses in languages! People think I'm brilliant just for being bilingual...well, so much for that! And the embarrasing thing is, I've never actually studied a foreign language. Japanese is my native tongue and English came to me so naturally since I spend my childhood in the States. I was too lazy to pick up a third language during my college years, but simply chose English and got through the easy way (Japanese college students are the laziest in the world, lol! We study like hell during our high-school years to pass the entrance exams, and once we're in college...all we ever think about is have fun until we have to graduate and start working...which is to most of us something like entering a grave ). But well, I can sing just a little bit of Italian operas...though I have no idea what I'm singing about most of the time.

I'm OK with the Nomura-era FF series for the most part, although I have to say FFXIII's general plot was just for me. I personally prefer playing chibi-fied characters, which is probably why I find myself spending more time playing the spin-off titles like the FFT games and 光の4戦士 which I mentioned above. I'm fascinated by Japanese high schools and universities, primarily because I'm one of those 帰国子女 who never attended a Japanese educational institution (unless you count 保育園, if it even counts as one). It's always been international schools or abroad for me.

Yep, clovera...I'm 帰国子女 too! And when you attend a Japanese school being one, you either end up treated as a cool bilingual genius or some weirdo with strange attitudes. I was the former after entering jr-high, but the latter during elementary school. I was in this special class for kid's who spent some time abroad and so they are way behind in thier Japanese studies in elementary school. So my friends in the class and myself were always bullied by the normal class kids...well, just being called 外人(foreigner) or 知能遅れ(retard), nothing serious. But I used to think then that Japanese kids were so mean! I wanted to head straight back to NY. All beautiful memories now though!
