Yeah, me too... I'm sure she'll be more frequent once the season really starts. Just like most of the forum.

I'm guilty too I feel so bad for not posting here for over a month, not participating in the Mao birthday project etc. I was either away or busy. I try to read the forum daily, just don't have time to contribute to discussions/projects Hopefully now I will find some more time to support our dear Mao! I am excited too for the NHK Trophy! Now even more so when I know I'll be able to watch/follow it live. I just hope for a decent stream.. GO MAO!

| This is not much but so far, a couple of news articles were posted on Mao's official practice today. Hope that this will help quench some of our Mao-news-deprived-thirst. http://www.jiji.com/jc/c?g=spo_30&k=2010102100653:Main idea: Mao seems to have problems with the 3As today and Coach Sato explains that it's because she puts too much force on her entry to the jump. http://www.daily.co.jp/newsflash/2010/10/21/0003548312.shtml - Quote :
- 2日のジャパンオープンですべてのジャンプを失敗した浅田は「練習でジャンプを確認した。まだいいときと悪いときがある。やってみなきゃ分からないけど、いい出来が本番で出せれば」とぶっつけで臨む。
Quote from Mao: She mentioned that she finished checking her jumps at the practice but her jumps remain inconsistent (there are good times and bad times). Not so sure about this sentence: "やってみなきゃ分からないけど、いい出来が本番で出せれば" Maybe some of our wonderful posters can help out? There are more articles but they are all pretty much the same. All in all, Mao seems to be struggling with her jumps but remains optimistic and strong like she always does. She is very honest about her condition. She replies questions from the reporters with a smile and says that she will channel the support she has from the Nagoya crowd into power and hopes to deliver her best at the actual competition. I hope this is better than nothing! I have trouble understanding every single phrase; perhaps someone more proficient can help. GOOOOO, MAOOOOOOOOOO!! -------------------------------------- ETA: a new report on Mao http://www.nhk.or.jp/news/html/20101021/t10014732551000.htmlMao says that she was able to train well with her coach coming to this competition! She also checked her FS choreography at today's practice run-through.

| You are very much welcome, polosatik!! According to this article: http://mainichi.jp/enta/sports/general/general/news/20101022k0000m050079000c.htmlMao's SP practice today indicates that her planned jump layout will include: 1. 3A 2. 3-3 Well, seems that Mao's plan is pretty much as we expected. She will be taking advantage of the new rule change. Good to see that her previous performance at JO has not changed her conviction: she will still go for the 3-3 combination. I've really missed seeing them in Mao's programs. ---------------------------------------------------- ETA: http://sankei.jp.msn.com/sports/other/101021/oth1010211747013-n1.htmThis article sums up Mao's practice today: During daytime practice, Mao's jumps were inconsistent. At the evening practice, her jumps improved but remains unstable. When practising the 3A during the day, Coach Sato mentions that she is jumping too hard (?) and they adjusted it during the evening practice. Mao's fired up by the support from her Nagoya fan base and hopes to perform as great as possible tomorrow. | |

| And more news continue to surface... The Japanese journalist seem to be covering the NHK trophy quite extensively, considering that this is the event where they will be showcasing their very best to the world. 2 current World Champions and 2 current Junior Champions. http://sportsnavi.yahoo.co.jp/winter/skate/figure/text/201010210007-spnavi.htmlAccording to the press conference today, Mao says that after Japan Open, she trained with Coach Sato while paying special attention to her jumps. She plans to include two 3As in her FS this season. But she still hasn't decided yet at today's practice, so she isn't sure whether she will actually be doing both at this event. But it would be great if she can, as she has been doing them all along. When asked about her goals for NHK Trophy, Mao mentions two: 1) To be able to complete all her jumps 2) To skate with speed from start to finish: at Japan Open, Coach Sato told her that she skated rather slowly in general. So she hopes to skate without losing any speed all throughout the programs at this event. ETA: Thank you so much for the clip, purplemaze!! | |
