| I am not whatching the competition since I couldn't find any stream.. but whoa! The scores are so low! What is happening? However I am glad that Kanako is in lead so far with only Carolina to go | |

I've read several tweets regarding the ice condition, which apparently isn't very good. It happened for the men and the pairs yesterday as well, but there were several bobbles and minor mistakes throughout the competition - Kanako lost a lot of points for popping the 2A since it is a required element in the SP. Also, the tech panel for the event is made up of BOTH Shin Amano and Sissy Krick so I'm not surprised at all with reports that both CaroZ and Rachael probably had their jumps DGed (<<). 1 Carolina KOSTNER ITA 60.28 30.48 29.80 7.61 7.18 7.50 7.43 7.54 0.00 #12 2 Kanako MURAKAMI JPN 54.75 27.55 27.20 6.68 6.54 6.96 6.86 6.96 0.00 #8 3 Joshi HELGESSON SWE 51.17 27.68 23.49 5.93 5.57 6.04 5.96 5.86 0.00 #7 4 Rachael FLATT USA 51.02 24.28 26.74 6.71 6.43 6.86 6.64 6.79 0.00 #11 5 Caroline ZHANG USA 50.66 25.80 24.86 6.18 6.07 6.18 6.32 6.32 0.00 #9 6 Amelie LACOSTE CAN 50.55 25.16 25.39 6.39 6.04 6.43 6.43 6.46 0.00 #5 7 Mae Berenice MEITE FRA 48.27 28.29 19.98 5.29 4.61 5.11 5.04 4.93 0.00 #1 8 Elene GEDEVANISHVILI GEO 45.27 20.41 25.86 6.61 6.25 6.43 6.57 6.46 1.00 #10 9 Alexe GILLES USA 44.86 24.72 21.14 5.39 4.96 5.32 5.43 5.32 1.00 #3 10 Min-Jeong KWAK KOR 44.41 24.58 20.83 5.36 4.89 5.18 5.32 5.29 1.00 #2 11 Jenna MCCORKELL GBR 42.87 20.64 22.23 5.82 5.21 5.68 5.57 5.50 0.00 #6 12 Viktoria HELGESSON SWE 41.91 19.86 23.05 5.89 5.50 5.75 5.89 5.79 1.00 #4 Aside from Joshi coming in 3rd, the placements are pretty much as we've expected, I think. CaroK has a considerable lead so SA is hers to lose at this point. Kanako mentioned in a recent interview that she wants to come in 2nd for the SP like NHK but have a much stronger FS this time around. She has a good chance of making the GPF if she comes in 2nd overall so I wish her luck!

| Guess who was the first to break 60 pts this season? And she did it without doing a flip or lutz. Can I say female version of Patrick Chan? | |

She at least achieved it while staying on her feet, and her jump landings were clean today. PatC is just on a whole different dimension... ETA: Adelina still has the highest SP score of the season though. ETA2: I like you new avatar aoi!

ETA: Adelina still has the highest SP score of the season though. :lol2: Adelina rocks! To Patty's credit, at least he went for the hard jumps. I think one reason Carolina is finally able to stay on her feet is because she is not attempting the harder jumps for now. Once she starts doing those jumps, her consistency will probably suffer again. ETA: Thanks clovera ! I found it at this site. http://www7b.biglobe.ne.jp/~maomai-dot/ It has a lot of cool dot art designs of Mao. There's even a section that shows you how to make them.

| I really love Dai's program. He was dancing on ice so the score was superb. In fact, I like Oda much than Dai and Oda's program is nice to see too but it is not as hot as Dai. I praise his costume. It's very shiny and hot and remind me one macho in the movie SHALL WE ダンス? (Japanese Version of Shall We Dance). it was so dynamic. (It is his luck that he suit that Latin style so much so if he can do it perfectly, perhaps there will be a new world record for SP.)
I want Mao to skate that style one day too. Mao is so elegant and classic that sometimes I want her more jazz. (I accept that Cohen, Miki and Yuna are more jazz than Mao.)
I hope I can see Mao's perfect program at TEB with Takahiko cheering beside.

Armin and DaiM were the only top skaters who gave relatively clean skates - I completely believe the reports regarding the subpar ice conditions now. I don't quite agree with Dai's PCS today, but unlike Skate Chanada feat. Patty it didn't result in Tono experiencing a sudden PCS drop in the FS so I'll live (not to mention the kicked-out combo cost a lot of points and the win). Congrats to Armin on making his first senior GP podium!

| Oh Pochipota, you're so mean Where can I see Tono's LP ? It's very unsual of Dai to make so many mistakes. Is it because of the ice like people say ? are the skaters saying anything about the ice ? | |

| I don't get Caro's 60 for her short. Really, this is the most juniorish layout ever, and she's a 3 points ahead of Kanako in TES? She should won in PCS for sure, but not in TES mark even that Kanako singled her axel. Grrrr.... | |

Yeah...but still, 60 for that SP?????? I'm not much of a Kostner fan when it comes to her skating, but I do like her personality. I wish I can feel more convinced about her win here, but I can't! The way the judges score her is giving her a bad name. It's doing her no good. I'm pretty sure after watching the tv broadcast in Japan, Kanako was the one who really delivered in SP, and the audience noticed that. I would place Kostner in 2nd, even with her 3-2T, because she did have grace, and honestly the other girls didn't do any better...but above Kanako, never! Just finished watching some of the guys' FPs, too. What happened to Dai? Bad day, I guess...but he really does deliver even with jump mistakes. Nobu, seemed not to have been aware of what he did again until he reached K&C. At first he seemed shocked but pretty much taking it easy, but after the scores came out, he did seem to realise that if it were not for you know what, he would've won, and then he really seemed depressed. I'm hoping this time would be the end of his record breaking habit concerning the Zayak rule. I've always thought skaters were pretty clever people...counting while they're spinning and stuff. But as for Nobu, what can I say at this point!? I used to think his being like this on the ice was one of his charms, but this time I am truely exhausted. Please give your fans a break Nobu!

| Honestly, I tell myself I shouldn't be surprised Kostner would break 60 and be first. We all can't forget how she placed first in the SP in 2008 above Mao! She has this European quality that apparently the judges love. (or maybe it's because the european nations make up a majority of the panel ). The only reason she hasn't been getting huge scores is because she has been bombing a lot in recent years. There's only so much a judging panel can do. | |

| yeah it pretty strange that her score is so high when all she does is a really easy jump layout, which just makes me wonder, if such a easy jump layout could score that high, mao's scores would have been huge if she kept her old laout and without going through all the trouble to change her jump technique and ad a lutz and a salcow and a 3-3. I mean I really DO support mao's decision because I know what she is doing is the right thing. but seing how kostner can do such a easy layout and still score pretty high, makes me sometimes wonder is it worth making such a dramatic change in mao's jumps, and does all those changes have to be in the same season.. I would really like to know what mao thought when she saw that kostner win with such an easy layout in NHK,I guess it was probably something like I can't believe that I messed up and lost to these girls who are barely able to jump!!! anyway back to topic I am actually not that surprised that kostners score is soo high, because when she doesn't mess up the judges are always pretty generous when it comes to her just remember worlds 2008 ( I still don't know how she endet up getting the silver). I just hope that the judges don't give to high scores just bcause people make a clean skate even through the it's easy compared to someone who does a few mistakes but still delievers a performance that has a much more diffecult layout...
I really miss mao, can't wait to se her skate again!!! I would do anything to know how her training is going!!!

| I agree with such high score od Carolina. Quality of her elements is very good, even though here jumps are easy. Moreover she completely deserved such high PCS. I don't think Kanako should have defeated her only becasue she did 3-3 combination. But I agree sometimes judges are too "generous" for Caro. (2008... ) | |
