Hey everybody,
I have to chose a music for my new program for next season... I want to have nocturne as a slow part, but I also have to chose for a fast part, I really don't know what to chose that would fit nocturne?!

I feel that a piano piece from the same composer Chopin would fit well.

I agree with Sunshine that the best fit would be another piano piece by Chopin, in order to make the transition seem fluent.
This is a difficult task, as most of famous Chopin works are rather either slow, or with a variable tempo that makes them extremely difficult to skate to, but I have a few suggestions:

Final fast part of Fantasie Impromptu Op. 66 - we all know how it sounds like Wink .

Étude Op.10 No.12 in C minor (also known as "Revolutionary Etude" or "Fall of Warsaw") - very fast, powerful and dramatic, written by Chopin after hearing of the Russian takeover of Warsaw in 1831 after failed revolution.

Étude Op. 25, No. 9 in G-flat major (also known as "Butterfly Etude") - fast, playful, fun. Rather short, though! (about 1.06)

Étude Op. 10, No. 8 in F major, nicknamed "Sunshine" or "Ribbon" - fast, light. Great to listen to, but might be rather difficult to skate to. Sweatdrop

Some of the Polonaises are also nice, but their tempo might nor be appropriate for a single skater...

thanks a lot guys for your help, but I think those pieces of music are too gorgeous that my skating could not do justice to them... Do you think of any other classical fast parts (maybe less dramatic), even if it don't match with nocturne, I could easily chose another slow part because I have many ideas of them, but the fast parts are sooo difficult to find!!

Ok, most likely it won't fit (since choosing music for FS isn't my forte), but nevertheless:
Joe Hisaishi - Summer - one of the most famous Hisaishi-sensei's pieces, light, sunny and joyful;
the final part of his Hana-bi - powerful, dramatic and possibly might look good against the background of a nocturne's night sky (hana-bi - fireworks).

Could you share those ideas for the slow parts? It is easier to choose something when I know what to match it with. Very Happy
I have 15th CD worth of Chopin works, 5 Vanessa Mae, some Lucia Micarelli, Leahy, Angele Dubeau & miscellaneous classics and muzak, not to mention the anime/game soundtracks... Maybe I could find something appropriate. Smile

Anoher idea came to my mind - do you remember the pianist that performed at Worlds 2008 Gala, Robert Wells? I liked him, so I searched for his works and I found a lovely music piece played by him and based on Chopin's Fantasie Impromptu... except it's jazz! Love Hearts It's like Mao's LP mixed with Nobu's Mario SP, absolutely lovely and funny. I wanted to make a virtual LP montage for Nobu using this (it's so gentle, amusing and light it would suit him well), but I'm constantly running out of time.
While it would fit an elite skater well, I think it wouldn't be that hard to skate to for a beginner as well. It is not as fast or dramatic as the original Fantasie. It has a fast ending, but it could be used for a spin or something. Whirly
