| Just got back from my vacation and watched the program for the first time. I was expecting Mao to be even better at expressing this kind of music after the way she challenged herself artistically in the past few seasons, but I wasn't expecting to be completely taken aback at how exquisite she is now, even more than before. I'm not sure exactly what it is- I remember thinking she was using her torso more for expression, but there's something there that's new, that makes her even more of a ballerina on the ice, and it's not just the costume or the music. Plus, the way she opened up even more with the expansive chord section was stunning. I think I need to watch it a couple of times more carefully to figure out what exactly I'm seeing that wasn't there before, but wow, is she and her movement just absolutely beautiful.
I was surprised by the music cut like some of you, but I think the most jarring for me was the ending - I wanted more of the fast coda and a longer step sequence; it felt a bit short to me. Other than that, though, I think it's not bad; the most calm and climactic sections are used and more of the in-between material than I'd expected is there. I expect Mao to change things up as the season goes on (remember the 2A sequence she added to So Deep Is the Night?) and as she gets more practice, the choreography to line up with the music better.

| I love this program , and at first I was some anoyed because I didn´t understand why again her Ex is so perfect and it is not her competitive program, but now I think that it is the best, Mao is relaxed, we are relaxed and we just enjoy her beautiful skating . | |

| Mao's so pretty!
Her EX is amazing, although it's a bit messy in some places. There are some knots that need to be tied... but I think it's still incomplete? The music cuts aren't great, and some steps (from Bells) were recycled so maybe we can see a more polished version of the EX in the future.
Oh, and why aren't there some more pics? Mao's show in Korea released a lot of HQ pics of Mao. Why not for her DOI performance? She looked astonishing!

| Thanks kirakira for the pics! I didn't know the site you posted. - klarification wrote:

Didn't you read clovera's this posting? - Quote :
- Since the main theme is a ballerina practicing, a few folks theorized that the step sequence near the end will continue to change as the season progresses - I wouldn't mind seeing that!
Or TAT might have putted the Bells steps in it intentionally, because it's "a ballerina practicing"! - Quote :

Japanese media always doesn't take pics as many as Korean media. Let's wait for Mao's official site will be updated.

And Yeah for a little Taka-Mao sequence! haha, I like the way you are thinking! I was finally able to see Mao's new EX a few days ago. I like it! Mao looks gorgeous! I love her dress, it's so simple and elegant and makes Mao look so mature and beautiful! I guess the long skirt has to get in Mao's way sometimes, but I hope she sticks with that dress for some time, it's lovely! The exhibition alone for sure needs some polishing, but it's so pretty! I just hope she will change the Bells steps to something new, creative and pretty I loved this step sequence, but in the Bells program. Here it seems to be too powerfull and expressive. But that is just my opinion of course!

| I saw DOI broadcasting on BS Fuji today. It seems there is no video yet, but in interview Mao said TAT made "Ballade #1" for Chopin because this year is 200th anniversary of his birth. The performance aired today was same as the one we saw before. | |

| For those who haven't see it yet, oloveskating on YT has already uploaded the BS Fuji version of the DOI broadcast, and has several exhibitions that were skipped over during its initial airing (incl. Kozu, the Reeds, Haruka Imai, Yukiko, Kento etc.) as well as Shouma and Yuzuru which linglang posted above. As usual, YT is bound to delete the vids after a few days so save it to your HD pronto! Looks like we'll have to wait for the second re-broadcast of DOI later this week or The ICE to see a clean, more-polished version of Ballade #1. | |

| I love Mao's new EX more and more every time I watch it. I think the first time I saw it I was too excited over the fact that this was a new Mao program to pay attention to all the details. On the second viewing, I noticed little things here and there which altered my overall response to the program. For example, the little twirl Mao does at the very end of the program makes her skirt spin so that (I think) it looks like a tutu . So beautiful . It's times like this that I wish I had a more thorough knowledge of ballet to appreciate the art behind this EX. And really, to appreciate the beauty of ballet in its own right. | |
