| Hm, that's interesting. Especially if it's all true. And if it is, it kind of makes you wonder: if Mao were from China, maybe she would have won the olympics back in 2006?! | |

I'd rather not think about it. It's disheartening that this is happening quite frequently - that's for sure. China doesn't have the best track record regarding the age issue, and it really does bring things into perspective when one considers all the skaters who had to "wait" for their time to compete. Mao during the Torino Olys is of course the most obvious example but the article does a good job bringing up Worlds 08 when the USFS had no choice but to send Mirai, Rachael, and CaroZ to Jr. Worlds instead due to the age restriction. Adelina too, had no choice but to sit out of Euros this year as well. It doesn't help that the skaters in question are promising up-and-comers like Sui/Han or established skaters like the Zhangs. Talk about a mess. | |
