Thanks maowataiyo for the clip with 3F-3Lo. uh..Taka and Kanako were in her team and I think Taka is top skater. The reason Dai and Mao are always in different team is not only they are top skaters, because they are most popular skaters. Miki and Akko are great but we know they are not so as popular as Dai and Mao. Team Red they won first part then lose in middle ~ then Taka and Mao won the last part--> of course, Mao won over Dai a lot because Dai didn't perform well.

Thanks for all the clips, everyone! So happy to see Mao doing a 3-3 again! But from the second angle, the 3Lo still looks a little tight (underrotated) and maybe two-footed? At any rate, so proud of my girl for always, always challenging herself! I totally expect to see an EVEN better 3-3 in competition soon! There are more pics from the competition on this blog (thanks Shion-san)! http://ameblo.jp/shion-925/entry-11128855563.htmlI am really curious about Machida's EX!!

| MAO!!!! They say team red won a come from behind victory edging out team blue (602-598) probably thanks to Mao. The translator says when Mao was interviewing after the competiton, Kozuka approached and said "Thank you, Asada senshu." | |

According to the blog, after they won, Mao said "we won thanks to everyone's power." And apparently one skater was covering his face with those inflated stick things they clap together--that was Taka-chan, and he said "thank you, Asada-senshu." "senshu" means player (like a baseball player), and they use it to refer to athletes. So instead of referring to Mao as Asada-san, they call her Asada-senshu when they are being formal. Mao-chan, Asada-senshu--those sound fine to me, but it always makes me laugh when Shuuzou Matsuoka calls her "Mao-san." It's like half-formal/half-informal, so it just sounds funny to me.

Mao-san? Asada-chan? I watched Matsuoka senshu paly in person a couple of times when he was a tennis player. He struck me as a very calm and quiet person back then.

| Thanks for the links guys! I have this warm fluffy feeling by just knowing that Team Japan had a great time, and that I'm a fan! Yay for Mao! It must have felt really good for our dear Mao to be able to put 3F-3L in a program, even if it is for an exhibition. I do hope we'll get to see that combination (Cleaner, hopefully! We know how difficult the judges are...) soon.. I'm not sure where to post this, but this is a link to a video (with Dai's colorful personality and Nobu-kun's jump face) and one reason why I like team japan. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g049so2s718&feature=related | |

| I'm so happy to see Mao is trying to include a 3-3 again!! And I hope she starts adding it to her programs soon so she can get used to it in competition. This one, to my eyes, was badly UR, probably even DG, but it was still a very good effort, especially under spotlights, which apparently makes it harder to execute jumps. It looked smooth and confident despite the lack of height on the second jump. Go Mao! With just a little bit more snap and height, which will come with practice, I think she can get it within the UR range and that's not as bad as a couple years ago, point-wise. The loop wasn't very high compared to the 3F and I think that's the main issue Team Mao needs to address in order to try and get it rotated. The second jump of a 3-3 combination should be as high or higher than the first. If Adelina can get it rotated while basically jumping up and down, I'm sure Mao's improved technique, which gives her a lot more distance than before, can make it work as well. I think that if she really tries it out in competition this season, she will get more comfortable with it and she might make it with a UR call. Then, next year, she will have had a lot more time to work on it and maybe we will see the glorious days of Mao's 3F-3L again! | |
