But I don't know that the Russian are doing this well. Maybe Elena won't be the indisputable queen of FS with the arrival of the second wave of Russian wonderbabies.

This "wonderbabies" are, like you said still "babies", i would wait with praising them until they are at least 17/18 years old! Everyone was 2 years ago saying, Liza is the next big one and look at her now! Unconscious
Of couse its great, they are at this lever exact this year with the olympics in the own country, but i wont praise them too much yet!

Can't wait to see Mao again in less than two weeks Happy dance . As I live in Spain I love competitions being held in Japan because I usually watch them a few hours after the programs are aired live so I can watch Mao without suffering too much, especially in the short. I hope that she skates a perfectly clean SP and silences all of those who have been spreading that "two-footed landing" rumour about her triple axel. Seriously, do they think she's doing it on purpose?...well. And I'm dying to see the changes in her LP too. That's the good thing of being a Mao fan, you know that she is going to surprise you with something different at each competition....some times it works well and others not so well, but at least she's determined to improve and try new things. You go girl! Cheering

The GPF takes place at the same time as the Golden Spin. Hope this year's GPF will be exciting and I won't have to see countless journalists cover it half-heartedly only to hail the B-event as the Queen's homecoming. Very Mad

And that's what I have a problem with. I can give you a benefit of a doubt if you say you can't compete because you injured yourself, but to choose an event (to make your return) that you know will take place at the same time as the GPF, knowing the media will be all over it, thus taking the attention from the GPF, really is disrespectful to all the other skaters who work their butts off to make the GPF. Especially when there's different events that takes place a week before or after, that you can choose besides the GS.

OMG, a GS member even suggested that Ashley should skip GPF because it's no longer prestigious. Like a fragile princess who needs to be coddled and sheltered from injuries Who, me? Escape

That's another senseless thread from GS Disappointed . But to be honest, I don't care as much as if Ashley makes it to GPF or not, and I totally welcome that if Ashley would skip GPF, as then the 1st alternative would go to Akiko.

My predictions for the top three

Ladies

- Mao: Obviously, if she's able to skate at least as well as she's done so far, she'll win hands down.
- Julia: She's consistent (or was before COR FS) and her PCs seem to be increasing.
- Ashley: Not extraordinary in my view but very consistent. Adelina and Elena might surprise, though.

Men

- Patrick: He'll win hands down if he's clean, we all know that. If not...it will depend on the chanflation level (love this word, BTW LOL)
- Yuzuru: The short may help him a lot. Hope he's able to skate a clean FS...
- Dai: It's not easy to say since he seems to be the most "vulnerable" when it comes to TES. I expect a huge score if he's more or less clean, though. Machida might surprise since he looks really on this season. Han Yan is also very good but not consistent with his FS.

Pairs

- Volosozhar/Trankov: Do I need to say anything?
- Savchenko/Szolkowy: Would love to see them skating clean and finish as close to V/T as possible. I don't want a boring pairs competition in Sochi.
- Pang/Tong: They have really nice programs. Hope to see them fix those side-by-side jumps...too many mistakes recently.

Dance

- Davis/White: Quite impressive FD...not that sure about de SD. Tessa and Scott could beat them if they fix their technical issues.
- Virtue/Moir: Great SD, but a disappointing FD. It's good, but not enough in my opinion. However, for the judges they are still one of the favourites for OGM, so I expect them to receive sky-high PCs (not saying they don't deserve them, though).
- Bronze medal: Very difficult to say because scores have been extremely different at each competition. My hopes: Cappellini/Lanotte (like both their SD and FD) or Weaver/Poje (looove their FD). I like Pechalat/Bourzat's FD too but I was very disappointed with their SD when I saw them live at TEB.

What do you think???

I agree with you "iceriver" in everything, even if I don't like to choose Chan like the winner!!!!  Evil or Very Mad

Maybe I'm the only one who likes Virtue/Moir more then Davis/White in this forum  Laugh  But I think D/W will win!

I prefer Virtue/ Moir. They are the better artists IMO. Most members in this forum don't like them because they come across as being fake/arrogant. In terms of speed and dancing, I don't think Davis/White better than Ilynik/Katsalapov Dance

Dai is out of GPF.
http://headlines.yahoo.co.jp/hl?a=20131128-00000057-dal-spo

Dai has minor injury to his right foot, which requires 2-week rest. In this case, Oda will take Dai's place to attend GPF.
