What lipstick? 

 I think Mao without makeup is really pretty. No smokey eyes makeup needed to enhance her beauty.

And boy does Jack Gallagher has it in for Mao. Why doesn't he just get a job with a Korean newspaper. His Mao witch hunt articles are becoming quite repetitive, ugh.

Indeed! I really like seeing fresh faced Mao! Hmm, but i guess a little bit of tinted lip balm won't do any harm.

I'll admit, I chuckled a bit seeing that photo of Akiko, Kanako, and Mao looking so serious.  I'm so used to seeing them all bubbly and happy when they're together.  Just a guess, but they might have been listening to someone speaking or a reporter asking a question.

By the way, I just saw ISU's official facebook page update their cover photo to this... can't wait!!

oh~~ you should look for the photos in which Yulia was staring at Mao during the practice earlier today...her look is quite creepy (for me) and the first thought came to me was: wow, that's a Yuna 2nd...

Ooh I remember seeing videos of Yuna watching Mao practice before a competition. And yes, creepy vibe. And I saw a clip where Julia is making a face in Mao's direction while taking to her coach. I'm not saying she was making that face at Mao, but for some reason, that expression reminded me of Yuna's during Vancouver.

I'd just chalk it up to unfortunate timing when the photo was taken. Yuna had a lot of moments too with her serial killer eyes and I just found it amusing.

Sorry people, I'm a bitch so I actually want Mao to win gold in whatever way possible.
Don't get me wrong, of course I want her to have 2 fantastic skates, and I do believe she can do it.
But even if things turn out like the mens event, I'd be totally fine with Mao winning in the same sort of way Yuzu did. She's already said that she hopes to bring home OGM if she can, which means she's got her competitor spirit back in shape again. She will be skating to give the best performances of her life, but at the same time, she will be skating for the win and if she skates 2 clean pros, logically there is no way she can lose provided the judges score fairly.

So I am going to save the 'I'm okay since Mao seems happy even though she didn't win' attitude only for after the entire event is over. Until then, I am going to stick to believing she can perform great and win, cause I'm sure that's exactly what Mao is trying hard to believe in right now.

I've been nervous since yesterday, I'm terrified to watch the ladies' event, but I know that's precisely because I believe Mao has much a chance for OGM as any other skater this time, unlike Vancouver Olys. Back then I already knew they'd never give Mao anything higher than silver, so I wasn't as nervous as I am now, and all I hoped was for her to be able to be satisfied with her skate and be able to smile in the end. But we can hope for a hell of a lot more this time. So if any of you are a nervous wreck as I am now, consider yourselves living proof that Mao has a good chance for OGM this time.  

It's all up to her now. All we can do is pray and hope her best so let's do that well.

I agree with all of this. The haters can eat a cactus .

I believe she can win too, and i will be happy if She win in the same way that Yuzu, but i can be happy if she can hace two perfect skates, if she can smile with that i will smile for her too.

I'm asking God Just for two perfects skates from Mao because i know it is all she needs to win!

I just hope that she's happy at the end of the Olympics!
Whether it is winning gold or giving two perfect skates or placing outside of the podium - as long she smiles at the end of the long program, i'll be happy .

Couldn't have said it better myself. I absolutely agree. Of course I'll be happy if she's happy because she put out two perfect programs (which is her goal) , but I also want her to win, which will happen if she skates two perfect programs.    

Go Mao! Just chill (easier said than done, I know) and show the world what you're capable off.

Oh my God, so beautiful. Even without the jumps, the best SP of this season, IMO. This is what one calls the skating, not contortionist things that Yulia does. If this  again gets only 0.5 higher PCS than Yulia, I'm going to break something. Mao really has the best programs this season. GO Mao!  

@chapis, I don't think I follow you. Speedy wouldn't be so stupid to publicly admit it, even if it were true. IMO, this time around Yuna won't be held up so much, especially since we're in Russia.

I'll say it again, IF Mao will deliver, than IMO the judges are ready to give it to her. But she will have to deliver.

Yikes, maybe they need some vodka to wash it down.

But in all honesty, I do want to Mao to win OGM. Frankly, I cannot think of anyone more deserving in the current crop of ladies. It's just that I've always heard her say she wants to perform her best in Sochi, and that's what I am hoping she would do. However, if she said it herself that she wants the gold, then of course I am going all in!

Not sure if I'll watch her performance live though.

chapis, I've just been to Golden Skate and someone kindly explained what the article is about. The original was written in Korean paper (surprise, not  ) and all Speedy said (in casual conversation) according to this poster was, that if he were to bet his money on someone it would be Kim, because she doesn' get easily intimidated. All will come down to mental toughness, or something like this.

It's after midnight here in Slovenia, and I'm starting to get a bit panicky for Mao's skate today. And she isn't even on until like 19 hours from now, give or take. If I'm feeling like this, wondering how I'll survive through today, I can't imagine how she must be feeling.     I'm still debating whether to watch her live, or hide somewhere during her program. But then, I think I'll regret it if I don't watch her live.    Today is going to be a very long day.
