I wanted Jeremy to be at top. I love his SP for this season, I love his skating, etc...but although he skated fairly clean, his jumps lacked length and flow a bit this time. Even with the fall, Chan was more energetic and powerful this time, not to mention the brilliant 4-3 in the beginning. If he didn't fall on the 3A, his scores would've gone sky-high. I thought his spins were good too, and he didn't wave his arms around as much as usual during steps...Damn it! He's getting better and better!

This might be kinda out of topic, but whats going on with the judges? Why the ladies dont get over 60 points in no competition so far?

I haven't seen the SP for this competition yet, but I think it can't be helped. None of the ladies have really been 'delivering' so far. The difference of the level in ladies' and mens' competitions so far seems pretty obvious to me. But that's how girls are usually...unstable and all in the beginning of the season. I hope we'll be having better performances and higher scores for the ladies' later on.

I couldn't figure what was all that wrong with Miki this time...didi she get URs or something? I thought she was in much worser shape according to what's been posted in this forum. Pretty good spins from Zawadzki. Will she be the female version of Armin and make the podium???

Lack of spirals automatically take away 4-5 points for the vast majority of ladies; the reduced SoVs for triples and the 2A aren't helping either.

I'm not quite sure if I like this scoring trend, to be quite honest. 60 was a pretty helpful benchmark of a good SP score in the ladies event for the casual viewer but now we are stuck with a bunch of ladies clumped together in the 50s range instead. The ISU should just forget about hyping up world records and stick with keeping a season's top 10 table or something.

I think it's more likely that her step and spins were probably ratified as level one or two again.

Maybe MIki is injured, what is that thing in her back???

And we have to remember that there is no more spiral sequence in the short program. So comparing to last year scores, it is normal that it is about 3 points lower!

i kinda agree though. judges not so generous with PCS. compare miki's 59 at japan open and miki's 55 at cup of china. and i can't help worrying about miki's short. she has mastered her long so i'm not too worried about that. i still believe miki will win russia but what's up with her SP? maybe it's the music? but anyway...go miki!!! please do the 2A+3T this time!!!!

Miki isn't my favorite skater, but I think her SP this season is full of passion and charisma. She should have been scored more, IMHO. May be she is a little slow in spirals, but her jumps and step sequence are really good.

Russian TV isn't scheduled to start their broadcast for the next 35 minutes, so only folks with access to icenetwork or skatebuzz can watch the event live as of now.
The usual delayed stream on tvali.ge should show the event once that time's up.

ETA: Yuzuru not at his best today, but good effort. Big confusion over his jump layout though, including myself.

As for the judging...simply atrocious. The only reason why Patty was second today was because of his Zayak'ed combo in the FS - if he substituted the last jumping pass with a 3S he still would have won this event (and repeating what he accomplished at SC - winning an event with a total of four falls).

I don't want to say bad things about Lori, but she definitely must have some influence on the judges. Chan's PCS is pretty high again. Even without the falls, I thought his performance was kind of sloppy and rough, so I don't think he deserved it. I wish I can understand Russian, and hear what Tat is commenting. I wonder what her thoughts are for this competition...polosatik, if you were watching it, could you brief us?

I was at home unfortunately, but Tomas owned the audience. Really... Everyone said they got so much energy and fire from him!(My friend was there) Tomas has 1 and 3 places so i guess he's going to GPF. I didn't watch TAT's interview after the competition but I will check it soon and post here a brief translation.

I so much want to know what Tat thinks of Pattie...Since he's not stable it hasn't happened yet, but theoretically, if he skates clean, he would be achieving galaxy scores like Yuna by now. Most of us obviously think he does not deserve that, and cannot understand what the judges see in him that we don't. It's puzzling, and since Japanese commentators only say nice things and never speak honestly on tv, I'd like to know what specialists around the world are saying about him. Will be looking forward to your translation.

Btw, Tat has become so thin!!!!! She really worked on that diet of hers' didn't she!? I'm so impressed and inspired! I'm going to start dieting (again) tomorrow!
