| Thank you for the links. You guys are awesome!
I agree, Mao is more and more beautiful. I especially noticed that her make up is even better this time as well as her hair style: did you guys notice that she has a very nice chignon for her SP ? I love it. It's so elegant.
You go girl. Do we get to see Mao performing again before the 4cc ? Anyone going to the 4cc ? I'd love to go since it's not too far for me.

Mao's LP @ Japanese National without commentary https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hj5KTyxbEEk Thank you so much! I fall more in love with Ballade every time I see it! The height and flow of her 3F looked wonderful (I'm no expert, but watching it in slowmo it definitely looked to me like she was using the technique with the bent leg). I did notice that she started the footwork (the Bells steps ) a little earlier this time. Maybe she made that adjustment so she could finish with the music?

| Edit: Oops, I didn't realise I was logged on under my sister's account (she's also a dedicated Mao fan, albeit a new one ), so I deleted that message and am reposting it here I just had the opportunity to watch Mao's FP. I'm almost ashamed to call myself a fan . But, oh my goodness, she was brilliant . I couldn't get over how dramatic the improvement was from TEB. Mao, you are wonderful . And congratulations to Miki on her win! | |

haha that's funny!! but, I don't get what's happening at the beginning ?!?!??!?! I'm not sure I get it either! The subtitle at the bottom says "they're deciding the massage order," and I guess everyone put their hands up, and Miki put hers up last, but she was already getting a massage? The rest of them say, "Please go ahead" all at the same time. The announcer says something like "dachou kurabu," which seems to be a comic trio? Hmm...maybe someone else has a better idea. Mao smiling and waving at the camera at the end is soo cute. She looks cold though! Aha! Now I've got it! THAT'S why Mao's wearing the new costume for her EX (besides the fact that TAT gave it to her)--because it must be warmer than the sleeveless dress! YUP, that must be it!

Is that scene so familiar that most Japanese people would recognize it? I wouldn't recognize without announcer's suggestion. But, I bet young Japanese people would!!

| Sorry if this has been posted before, but I was looking at the morozombie blog and I found this nice post: He? She? It? begins by talking about the GFB (the generic female ballad) - you know, the typical lyrical program that female skaters tend to do: - Quote :
Other important elements of the GFB include the all-important costume (the GFB dictates that the lady must skate in a flowy, pastel-colored dress, with sequins being optional) and the particular character of the program (gentle, everything very pretty-pretty). GFBs tend to have a peculiar engineering that allows them to be virtually interchangeable in their many iterations, speaking with a calm, feminine voice that soothes and assuages any fears of seeing a moment of depth or daring in a figure skating program--in other words, a pretty face without a single feature of that face ever coming into focus.
Then they talk about how Mao's debut of Liebestraume seemed like another GFB, until Nationals. The Nationals program, however: - Quote :
But wait, something happens at the 2010 Japanese National Championships. It was perhaps at that moment when I was sharply reminded of how figure skating is above all a kind of performance art that is never exactly quite the same across competitions. Indeed, Miss Asada's Liebestraum at her Nationals--with all the attendant peculiarities of emotion, aspirations, atmosphere--finally unfurled, breathed and burned off all the shadows of doubt, quietly hitting the certain chord of beauty that is inscrutable but apparent as the floating blocks of color in a Rothko, pure as light.
Miss Asada's Liebestraum does not break new aesthetic ground, doesn't try to, and doesn't need to. For this GFB, beauty alone is sufficient.
