Mao's jumps are looking good, her 3A seems a bit UR, and the other small thing I noticed is that she delays the rotation on the 3F only when she adds a 2L so I guess it's a mental thing because her solo 3F is a beauty! I have confidence Mao will have a good competition.
Adelina's 3-3 does not look as good as last season, but boy, she made sure in that practice clip she takes off from an outside edge(on the 3Lz), so maybe this is why her combo is a bit unstable. She doesn't have a severe flutz so she must make sure she takes from an outside edge now, when she is 15 because later it will be much harder.
Based on what I saw today I am almost 100% convinced Mao is going for the 3A

Delaying the rotation is actually very admired in figure skating, it just makes rotating the jump a bit more difficult. During the NHK trophy both Kurt and Nicky praised Mao's jumps mentioning the delayed rotation. Smile

Actually, that was a flutz. Sad

Adelina's technique is practically identical with Mao: at first she rolls onto a very deep outside edge, but then she tilts her body to the inside and switches the edge to the inside one on the take-off. Like in Mao's case, it won't be that easy to fix that without changing the way she approaches the jump.

Anyway - Mao jumps appear fantastic to me! But can someone tell if her other jumps (apart the 3A) has the risk of being downgraded!
I really want her to land her 2A-3T and also the 3S! If Mao goes through - I'll be doin the jumpy happy dance! Dance

Its quite logical that Adelina is a big star in Russia! Just like Mao in Japan! Smile

She was doing all those off-ice jumps and I was like 'Boy she's a jumper!' WOW!

Did anyone watch her 3-3 in the fluff video? It appeared a lil UR to me...

Okami, I think you are right about Adelina's 3Lz. Still, it doesn't seem to me as severe as Mao'3 3Lz was when she was 15 and she is young so I hope it will be easier for her than it is for Mao. She does have similar technique though which is worrisome
I love delayed rotation too, I loved Mao's solo 3T from 2008-2009 and 2009-2010 LP but her 3F-2L-2L was called UR this season in Japan and delaying the rotation can cause under-rotation so I am a little worried about that.
I want Mao and Adelina in the GPF, let's cheer for them Cheering

Her jumps look great. I love how solid her landings look - even in the slightly URed and two-footed 3A, her landing is still strong and secure. Compare that to her jumps before, which had hooked landings, making them look URed even if they might not have been or were borderline.

I'm glad you said that, I was thinking about the same thing when watching Mao's jumps. Before she almost always had this wobble on the landing even on the fully rotated 3A, which made them always look suspicious. Now she is so secure, beautiful landings!

And her 2A-3T is amazing! The second jump is bigger then 2A. I hope she won't go for 3A, she can get a high score without it. Better a huge 2A than an UR 3A (imo).

Mao's Jumps at the end part of the clip, besides the 3A look so stable and strong.
The id passes given to the press, media et al, and the event's stadium and banner only include Adelina's picture said the reporter in the clip. Looks like she (Adelina S.) is indeed a big star in Russia....

because her going for the 3A cold affect her total score and there by placement, anyway I hope Mao will soon have her 3A ready and her 3A from yesterday looked really good so if it's the same as what I have seen in the clip I hope she goes for it... can't believe that the competition will begin in a few hours... so exciting

I have been thinking about something if Mao doesn't go for a 3A i the free don't you guys think it may be better to put another triple instead of a 2A.how may triples is Mao going to attempt overall.

I believe the only triple she repeats is the 3F, so technically she can repeat another triple in place of the 3A. But perhaps that would involve changing the approach to the jump. I think changing the 3A to another triple (such as a 3L) is very different from changing the 3A to a 2A.

I don't know if messing around with the jump layout and approaches this close to the event will be wise...
