I don't know if it's good or bad either. On one hand, they don't have to wait long after the warm-up so they'll be ready to go and less nervous. On the other hand, the judges might "save" scores for the later groups. I'm particularly worried that Mirai will do really well, but since she's second in the whole competition and the judges want to wait for Alissa and Ashley, they'll give her a low-ish score. Then again, I remember one year (2010, maybe?) Rachael Flatt went super early in the SP and still had one of the highest scores, so it might be okay.

Also, I've heard Mirai has, like Ashley, been really solid in practices. Seems like a good sign!

I don't mind that Mirai skates this early, because this way she won't be under pressure like she would be if she skated after clean Ashley. I just hope, the judges aren't saving good scores for Alissa.

I thought that CoP judging system was suppossed to eliminate the problem of judges saving high scores for competitors that skated later, like they did under the 6.0 system (which is what I feel is one reason why Michelle Kwan lost gold in Nagano since she skated her fs early).

Also I remember in '09 nationals Alissa skated her sp pretty early as well, but still earned a high score and went on to win. Despite this though I'm worried for Alissa skating so early this time, but I feel Mirai will do fine. Like a Star @ heaven

Ladies' first group is on the ice right now! I can't watch it due to me not wanting to pay for IceNetwork, but all the reports on Twitter say that Mirai is looking good!!

Hopefully Mirai will bounce back.

I'm very surprised that Agnes Zawadski won the short program. She's definitely an underdog. I expected it to be either Mirai, Alissa, or Ashley. If Alissa pulls it through for free skate, she might win the event. We'll see because it's quite unpredictable at the moment.

Mirai needs to learn to give her all until the end, no matter if she's having a great skate or a bad one. This way she's just giving away pcs points.

I don't see Agnes on the world team. It'll probably be Alissa and Ashley, though I'm hoping that Mirai will skate the lights out in the long, afterall she's got nothing to lose.

Davis/White won the short dance as expected, but the Shibutanis are only four points off!! Good gracious. I'm so excited to watch the free dance!! It's going to be great!

I listened to the Shibutanis' backstage interview as well as the press conference. They changed their music selections and worked really hard, and they like it a lot more as a result. From everyone I've heard, it suits them better.

LOVE IT! They make it look so easy. All they need now is more chemistry in the long (alla Tessa and Scott) and they will be very, very hard to beat (imo).
I can't wait for 4 CC and worlds.
