Mao will go to Worlds without coach

Apparently Mao decided to left Rafael because she got tired of being away from her friends/family for so long. Sad

Also it looks like her school wasn't happy that she didn't attend any classes. Mao now stays in Japan, where she trains without coach. She will decide on a new coach after Worlds.

I'm a bit sad, because she seemed to work with Rafael so well. Depressed Crying

But staying away from her environment for so long must have been very difficult, too.

I wish Mao best of luch, it must be difficult to train without any proffesional guidance. Sad

That's kind of sad...
But it must be hard to train far from her family and friends and I understand her situation, it's a good decision I think, Mao and Mai will be happier near their family and friends!

So many contradicting news, I don't even know what to think anymore! I just hope Mao has support where she trains in Japan and that the situation will be cleared up soon. I have a feeling that the press made a much bigger deal of this than it should have. Lips sealed

i was wondering about this too. She looks happy in the video but also a bit worried at the end. I hope she does her best at worlds and is happy with w/e the outcome is. I'm rooting for her all the way! Wub

Just rewatched Mao's heavenly Free Skate from the Worlds-2007... Rafael was happy like some kid in the kiss-and-cry. Smile

I'll definitely miss that man.

He definitely helped Mao a lot to develop as a skater - both in technical and mental/emotional sense.
