| We have to be objective. If Patrick would have won with a similar performance in front on a clean Dai the world would be on fire. I am actually sorry that she is in first because it's not right. It's sad to see the audience so SILENT when Mao wins. The system it's flawed. | |

| I'm like...... shocked. Definitely Mao's PCS saved her, but wow. 0.05 is so close. I'm just really shocked. I love Mao. Don't get me wrong, but I can't help but feel shocked. | |

THIS. I can't believe judges pulled this off with Mao, this skate did not deserve the first place. I feel bad for both Akiko and Mao, it can't be pleasant for them either.

No UR for Mao, ratified 2A-3T with big GOE and she got 10 points for her 3Loop-2Loop-2Loop. Still it doesn't seem right. It's like the judges tried as hard as they could to keep her in first i don't agree looking at the protocols it really makes sence, mao's 3l-2l-2l and 2a-3t combo was a big point getter, and Mao received level 4 on all her elements, and don't forget that Mao had a big lead going into the free skate!

In the LP no but in the SP yes, since there are mandatory rules for a triple out of steps and at least a triple-double combination

I'm glad that the audience isn't bitter or anything. They may be shocked, but they're not cruel or unkind. Will someone translate what she said in the interview immediately following her free skate?

I SAW THIS TOO AND I WAS SOO THRILLED, it looked like Mao has gotten the lutz right, but really Mao made uncharacteristic mistakes in her free, she looked so confident when she took the ice, i think it's mentally, the mistake on the loop in the beginning affected her alot!

and what happened to Mao inthe freeskate, did she say anything about that? I'd love to hear as well what she said, especially at the press conference. I bet she's anything but happy about the result. This was far from what she's capable, but I'm really happy about her 2A-3T. My guess is, her nerves got in the way. She was in the lead after the short (when was the last time this happened?) and skating infront of the home crowd. It's good that it happened now, she'll get it out of her system (hopefully).

However, the protocol said that she took off on the wrong edge.

I guess we're all too shocked after the results. Yeah. I guessed that. I'm still commenting as a sign of supporting Mao when... when the haters start saying something. The good thing is that she's a resilient person, which is one of the greatest qualities I admire about her.

| From watching the actual performance, I felt Mao appeared to have more power and speed in this performance than before. Too bad about the jumps . But I think it's nerves. She hit her big elements. Akiko had been lowballed on PCS again. But I want to defend Mao since there have been so many times in the past when I felt her PCS was held down. As others have said, this situation doesn't happen to her often, or much at all imo. I just wish the other skater hadn't been Akiko. | |

I'm so thrilled she's going to Sochi, hopefully she'll put this skate behind her and show everyone what she's trully capable of. This way she'll shut the haters off for at least a while. Can't wait to read what Phil Hersh has to say about this.

| My guess is that considering the UR she got in China, she tried really hard to rotate everything and put too much emphasis on that. It's like the tried too hard on the take off and the jumps didn't happen. Then she probably freaked out. Man, I feel for Akiko | |
