And, Pochinko, also Liza is an orphan... Tell me about it, it shows that it's pre-olympic season, so the judges are holding I/K up. About Liza: did you mean to say she's fatherless, or an orphan (lost both parents)?

I thought it might be a misunderstanding on my part, but I wasn't sure. Hopefully her mom will live a long and healthy life.

| Pairs SP will start in 20 minutes, does anyone have any links to streaming, that aren't geoblocked? I'd greatly appreciated. | |

About Liza: did you mean to say she's fatherless, or an orphan (lost both parents)? Liza lost her father last year, but her mother, thank God, is ok. That's terrible! I didn't know that at all...I understand now that Liza is not just having problems with growth period. Losing someone close to you like a parent, really makes you think what life is all about and stuff, I'm sure it's affecting her practices more or less. But she really had guts to go through this season like she did. I respect her much more than before now, and hope all the best for her and the rest of her family. I hope she can medal in Sochi along with Mao too! Go Liza!

| Lynn Rutherford @LynnRutherford Reports from Euros indicate Plushenko cut his practice short and "hobbled" off of the ice. He had talked of a bad back in an earlier presser | |

| Not a good skate for Kavaguti/Smirnov. Sasha fell on 3 toe and Yuko had a step out of throw triple loop. I don't like their short program, one good thing from all this is : Sasha shaved. SP score:56.20 CRAP. Hopefully they'll have an amazing free program. | |

She was literally flying. They were awesome, deservingly in 1st place. There wasn't any interaction between Max and Stanislav, hopefully it's just Maxim blocking everything and everyone out, and not something else... The score for S/S was a bit low, IMO.

The score for S/S was a bit low, IMO. Our girls who's in Zagreb arena now said that Maxim mostly stayed alone before the warm-up,didn't talk much to Tanya either. Then after the SP they showed close up of Maxim face,he was so pale and his eyes were black. Alyona and Robin got only 2nd level on footwork and Tanya and Maxim 1st level on death spiral. But I think maksim and Tanya got better GOE which is deserved. Italians were great too!!! They're in the third place! Here is the standing after the Pairs SP 1 Tatiana VOLOSOZHAR / Maxim TRANKOV RUS 73.23 2 Aliona SAVCHENKO / Robin SZOLKOWY GER 70.21 3 Stefania BERTON / Ondrej HOTAREK ITA 64.28 4 Vanessa JAMES / Morgan CIPRES FRA 59.27 5 Yuko KAVAGUTI / Alexander SMIRNOV RUS 56.20 6 Mari VARTMANN / Aaron VAN CLEAVE GER 55.14 7 Daria POPOVA / Bruno MASSOT FRA 53.75 8 Ksenia STOLBOVA / Fedor KLIMOV RUS 53.70 9 Nicole DELLA MONICA / Matteo GUARISE ITA 47.26

| I am a huge fan of S/S, this is the first pair I love who isn't Russian I loved T/M to death even though most found them boring, I found their style breathtaking and their Ave Maria SP is one of my favorite SP ever. Russian pairs have a special quality which always makes them stand out, however, S/S captured me with their originality and I started to cheer for them ever since they appeared on the international stage so V/T coming out of nowhere and almost beating them in their first worlds, I knew I was going to be pissed. I found V/T sometimes massively over-scored and the tiny differences they lost some titles to the Germans could have been bigger. It bugged me to see the judges overlooking their 2footing throw 3S and rewording them for sub par programs. HOWEVER I love their LP this season. I find it very very demanding technically, they set the bar very high which is respectable since the judges reworded them anyway. And after the glorious Pina of last season the Germans have a very mediocre LP for their standards. So I found myself yesterday not only in awe to how Trankov kept himself together but how he sold the program like there was no tomorrow. Yes, the GOE was a bit generous but the Germans skated very reserved and focused while V/T went out there and gave their all. So I am ok with the result even though I am still a big fan of S/S. I hope both skate their best tonight and the judging to be fair. V/T had problems with their LP all season except RN so I hope they can keep it together if that is at least a minimum comfort for Maxim | |

| What happened in the men's SP? I couldn't watch it because the whole area was without internet. Why is Amodio in first, and what the heck happened to Plushy? At least Javi will go into the LP pressure free, since he's not in the lead. Edit: I see the protocol is already posted. Too bad about Javi's 3-2 instead of 3-3, but hopefully he'll rock on saturday.
