So what do we do? We try to be like her, gaze at pictures of her, watch videos of
her, find every scrap of news about her, to dream of her and to love her from afar...

What's sad is that she can't reciprocate that affection we have for her to each of us, in a personal
way. It would be impossible. We are human beings. And we expect love to be a two way street. When we give it away, it's natural to expect it back.

That's where this forum is special. We give our love to Mao knowing we can't get it back. We give
it to her, freely...

But maybe I'm wrong. I think she did love us back.
She loved us back through her skating. And for sure we have seen the most moving, the most beautiful and the most inspiring performances we will see in our lifetime. It is a personal
gift from her to each of us. And it came from her heart...

I already miss her  

You are totally right, she may have never said a world to me but she made ME and MILLIONS of people HAPPY and smile all around the world

Honestly, I may be more like russians than japanese :p

I'm so anxius before mao performs that I can't enjoy other skaters programs, and once she finishes, I'm so happy/sad that I can't focus on the others too :p

I also want Mao to win sooo much that sometimes I involuntarily shout "YES !! " when other competitors fall   I feel guilty and really bad afterwards but I can't help it, ... honestly, I was not like that! I've always wanted Mao to win fairely and to me, she doesn't the other competitors fall to win against them, but the system pushed me to the extreme !!! Other skaters marks are sooooo unreasonnably high ! (ex : yuna, caro or yulia's PCS) while judges are sooooo strict with Mao (ex, today's 3A) that for me, -1 deduction for a fall does not even compensate for the advantage the other skaters have !!

Don't know if it was planned but I like that Akiko was leading the final lap

This gala was wonderful. And skaters looked to be having a blast.

I do wonder though why Gracie and Kovtun weren't part of the gala, but Ashley was who placed 7th.   I thought it's top 5 to attend and than those whom organizers want as well. What am I missing?

I am glad Kanako decided not to retire yet...
I didn't think it was fair for her to end her career with a last skate/last competition torn up by the tech judge
You can feel her sadness when she was shaking her head after hugging Mao
