| Yes, I agree ROMA. This generation of figure skaters are like different versions of VALENTINO ON THE ICE. I won't be surprised if a skater will one day be called "A Valentino On The Ice". Maybe, one of these days , I'll think of something.... | |

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CM6n8Og-FOU Thank you! That video was really cool. I actually got a few goosebumps when Mao was in her opening pose in the beginning of the video, and then looked up, as the scene faded to Vancouver... Wow! Also, is Miki wearing her actual LP costume? Everyone else is wearing their costumes... I have to say that I had a little at the juxtaposition between Mao and Yuna. Mao looking inspirational... and Yuna glaring. I guess they are really promoting the "rivalry" between Mao and Yuna, since none of the other skaters had a "so-and-so vs. so-and-so" clip. Sometimes I wish they could just focus on just Mao, like in the opening clip, instead of Mao vs. Yuna all the time, but I'm sure the S. Korean media is doing the same sort of hype. Sigh.

Trust me, this is only going to get worse as the Olympics draw closer. From what I can tell TV Asahi's recent pre-season fluff spent hours on the Mao vs. Yu-Na affair in their 2008 GPF recap this past weekend; similarly the 2nd episode of The Road to Vancouver - Mao Asada on BS-TBS was spent entirely on the Mao/Yu-Na rivalry. Korean media has been keeping close tabs on Mao as well - there were reports of SBS crew at the JO, and sure enough they had a news clip on Mao's Bells the very next day. Of course, the online community is also getting fired up now. 2ch's Yu-Na bashing thread has never been more active (as well as the usual threads criticizing Mao/Miki/Tono et al.), and Korean netizens are picking apart Bells and calling Mao a has-been - Mao bashing threads make up a significant portion of forums like DC Inside's FS board. I can only hope this doesn't lead up to disaster.
