Ah yes, I was just reading about it on several 2ch skating threads just now.

It's good to see no obvious damage was done, although I do question this kind of secretive "footage-taking" behavior since it certainly looks like Team Mao weren't aware that they were being captured on camera - and for obvious reason, since this was not filmed by authorized camera crew/TV staff but a hotel employee (or at least, that's what the translations are saying). Yikes!

On a more positive note - today is the SP!

Mao's axels look good, albeit still a bit shaky on the landings and glad to see the double toe look rotated.

Thanks for the practice clip! Is it just me or is she spinning REALLY fast in the air when she jumps? Also, were they just replaying the same triple axel over and over, or was she doing the jump that many times? I couldn't tell

That's amazing! I have little doubt that she will land some beautiful 3As this week.
As for the pirated, video...
I'm sure she's experienced things like this before, and if Team Mao sees this, they'll probably rank up the security on her. I'm not too worried unless more and more videos and photos like this pop up.

I didn't know Tat was in such bad health. I hope she makes a full, quick recovery. At first, I was worried about Mao, but on second thought, she always seems to skater her best when her coach is absent for some reason... Plus, she has only been training with Tat part time, so it shouldn't make much difference. If she skates great at 4C, I may start to wonder if she may even be better off going to the olympics withough her coach!

I wouldn't be surpised at all if Tat is not Maos coach next year. I know she has been getting close to retiring, she is apparently having health problems, and she hasn't even been able to coach Mao full time anyway. Plus, I'm not trying to say that Tat was a bad coach to her, but just that I do think Mao could find a coach who would suit her a little better.

I hope ISU staff and organizers will be carefull about these things so that skaters can just focus on their competition. An employee from the official hotel... the one who has to protect skaters from camera crew and fanatic fans actually taking videos of skater's privacy is just scary.

Someone in FSU said that Mao's sp and lp runthrough didn't go well. She didn't try the 3A combo in SP and popped 3F in SP runthrough.....Almost failed in all 3F.......

Figures, he knows he doesn't have the fact to back up his claim. When I read news about Mao from korean outlets, there were also people posting rude comments about her, so we shouldn't worry too much. I think if it wasn't going well, the foreign press will say something about it.

Did anybody see Mao's SP practice from yesterday? I think she changed her layback spin a bit. She didn't place har arms like the one at Nationals.
