| Hi everyone!
I hope no one gets mad that I created this thread for the 2016 World Figure Skating Championships. I feel like the site administrators are usually the one to do it, and honestly, I don't know all the rules, even though I've been a member for nearly 6 years. However, I have always wanted to create a thread!
With that said, are there any news on Mao? She has been quiet lately, and I'm quite anxious but excited for the competition next week.

| Hello Mao_Asada_sunrise I haven't found any information about Mao's preparation for Worlds. I think it is great that Mao is preparing away from the press and participating in the competitions she wants to compete in. Here are the best quality videos I can find of Mao's Madame Butterfly at the Japan Open and her SP at the Cup of China. These are my favorite SP and LP performances of the season. At Worlds,I hope Mao gets as much or even more satisfaction out of her performances and brings overflowing joy to the people who are watching. Cur of China SP https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GpfgCzS2k-Q I agree! It's good she's taking time away from the press. I just hope she's mentally stronger and physically healthy compared to Grand Prix. I understand that her condition was a hindrance. More than anything, I hope Mao skates with her heart. | |

More Mao, please! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ir7xi_O8EGUI hope that Mao will leave for US earlier so that she can practice at the link in Detroit where Yuka Sato was/is just like she did for Skate America 2013.

| Here is some information and a short clip about Mao's training. Thanks to rosewood for posting. So nice to finally see Mao on ice again with her magnificent triple axel! Here is a clip from a Fuji TV's news show aired yesterday. It shows Mao's 3A in a LP run through. Judging by her clothes maybe this clip was recorded on the same day as Fuji TV shot their commercial video for Worlds. Not necessarily very recent training but at least the latest clip we see after the NHK's exhibition show in the beginning of January. In the news show Kozuka said (nice to see Kozuka appeared on TV as a commentator ) that he recently skated with her and her condition was getting better little by little. Sounds she's not on her top form yet but I'm relieved to hear she's on the up-going wave. During the very short interview Mao said she wishes to show determined skating by trusting in what she's done after deciding to make a comeback. Go Mao! https://twitter.com/noenoe28/status/711968129329401857 | |

I'm not sure when was the 3A clip made. But I'm quite sure that Kozuka's commentary from that video should be referring to Mao's recent practice. Some other recent side news I caught: http://www.daily.co.jp/newsflash/general/2016/03/24/0008922551.shtmlReporting formal news release by JSF: the representative from JSF reports that both Mao and Yuzu's preparation for WC at Boston are going well. It seems competitors are in good spirits. Also, they all come up with their own methods dealing with size differences of the rinks at WC (the rink size at Boston is of Ice Hockey size: 61x26....) Another one is from twitter: Akiko was at a talk about 2 days ago, and Jpn fan tweets that Akko says she was in contact with Mao recently. They chatted randomly but Mao sounds like in good spirit and is working hard with the practice. Adding: In the radio talk of 'Mai's Young Japan Action' on Mon. (which is the very last episode of the talk), Mai did reveal that she'll also be going to Boston to cheer for Mao.

| Thanks for the links everyone! Mao looks so calm and Ready!!! Watching her FS runthrough made me realize how long it's been and how much I've missed her skating. Even without the jumps everything was just so magical and beautiful. The Skating Lesson posted a link on Facebook of Mao's 3 triple axels in a row Just amazing, they looked so effortless and big and beautiful! I'm lucky to be able to go this year because it's close to me. It'll be the first time watching Mao live, I'll be rooting for her all the way! Is anyone else here going to Worlds in Boston? | |

| hola! I don't post often..this might actually be my first post here--I cannot remember!
i'm here in Boston at Worlds and attended the practice session earlier today. Mao was great--she took her time warming up and landed several nice triple axels and at least one 3f/3l!
I've posted some on twitter. If you look up @theroccoragazzo you can see some of the videos I took. I only had my iPhone, so I couldn't zoom in too closely. Hope you all enjoy!

| You're so lucky sapphiresky and ronniev!!!
You were pretty close ronniev. How was Mao that up close compared to photos and videos? Was she truly calm? How did she interact with Coach Sato?

| @Mao_Asada_sunrise -- at practice session they let you sit anywhere, so of course I sat first row to get the best view. Mao looked really calm and confident out there. She took her time warming up and everything looked strong. I don't have access to the other rink, yet but will tweet #maoasada if I see anymore practices with her! | |

| Btw, I was on the opposite end of the rink so I couldn't really see her interaction with Coach Sato. | |

Hehe! I know you and sapphiresky are watching it personally, but what I meant was live television. I don't expect you guys to tweet, discuss, etc. about it live since you'll be busy or just basking in the moment of watching Mao live. Plus, it's going to be a battle to keep the cellphone battery alive. Lol!

| Hello everyone! It's been a while since my last visit here... , too busy with life. Thank you all for all the info, photos... I've got alot of catching up to do. It's such a shame, Mao couldn't skate clean, but it's so good to see her smile and enjoying herself on the ice. And I absolutely adore this SP. I'm not even going to comment on the BS scoring. There's no point, no matter what she does, the judges will screw her in 95% of the time. I hope she stopped caring and is just skating for her own enjoyment. That being said, I hope Mao will have a Sochi moment on saturday and will blow everyone away. Madame Butterfly is an amazing program, it would be beyond amazing, if Mao would skate it cleanly. So go Mao, kick butt on saturday! | |
