| Thank you for the picture, Kirakira! Maybe Mao is just thoughtful or tired, I don`t think that she is really sad, but we`ll never know about what she is thinking. She looks beautiful though...
Are there any other pictures from the banquet or is it a screenshot?

And is it just my imagination, or does she mention Mao a couple times too??? TAT said that he is a very good boy , he trains at the same rink as Mao, so she always sees him and his parents who train him there, Nobuo Sato comes from Tokyo from time to time. He has a good manner of skating, steps, good body movements, but not in a good form now, because there were so many competitions for him in ths season. She also said that he is not so strong for now, because he is young.
And, yes, TAT talked about Mao as well. Mao called her immediately after her short programme, said that she was skating for her and thanked her in russian. This competition was really important for them, because they tried new things for the next season (3A combo in sp and lutz will be in a fs). also I want to add that Mao said to TAT: "I was skating for you" And she called her right after the short and didn't take her boots out!

Swoopshare works just fine. Thanks a lot for uploading, Olive! (Or should I say "спасибо"? -) That was a very interesting commentary from TAT! She also mentioned that "if Mao listened to me with this idea (3A in the SP) a bit earlier, she could have done this within the season". "But (what Olive's already said) anyway this competition was very important to us, to try these new things, because the next year this will be our jumping pattern in the Short Program. This doesn't mean we will give up the Lutz, she will jump it in the FS". It was also interesting when TAT mentioned that Mao called her just after the SP while still wearing the skates. ( Edit: Seems like polosatik was three minutes faster. ) She also said that Japan has a really great team. And not only skaters, but just everybody involved.

Nobu: Under your eyes it's all black! Mao: Really?! Hilarious! When was the banquet?? If it was after the EX, then I was *totally* right about Mao staying up all night partying! (I have to admit that I was shocked that Mao was not sitting next to ~Taka-chan.~ But hopefully they got some photos together?? ) ****** olive - Welcome to the forum!! And thanks very much for the translation!!! polosatik & summervie - thanks for the additional notes! How cute that Mao called TAT even before taking off her boots! Ok, my dear Russian speakers - the commentator guy mentions TAT a bunch of times in the beginning of the finale: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=naETNKYP2aIWhat's he saying? Thanks in advance! ******* ETA: Just in case anyone was wondering, Mao did talk to TAT after her FS. According to this article, Mao said that TAT said, "You did really well!" http://www.nikkansports.com/sports/news/f-sp-tp0-20090419-484925.html

I have a feeling that Oda and Miki were both teasing Mao about being worried with dark circles under her eyes. My guess would be that it wasn't apparent at all but Mao was worried - as any girl of her age or rather, women of any age will be. hoho. I am still elated that Mao did so well at WTT!!! I don't really care about what people say that she was gifted some. All I know that Mao is BAACCKK!! That was the Mao Asada I was waiting for all season. Did you see how everyone in the rink rose to their feet when Mao finished her FS?? Amazing! I'm glad that TAT is so complimentary about Team Japan. ETA: Links to Interviews with Mao or what I think is a round-up for Mao's competitive season, focusing mainly on WTT. The second part particularly interests me as it contains Mao's account of what was bothering her this season (i think) and how would she move forward with TAT the coming season. chiyori - so how are you feeling? And what about you, clovera? Ughh, the fatigue from staying up all night watching skating definitely hit me today! I couldn't wake up to go to work on time, and I definitely have some nice black circles under my eyes, just like Mao! - snowdrops24 wrote:

Part 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zjEdeLobCCQ Part 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T4wOMN_HWsQ Well snowdrops24, I definitely don't think Mao was gifted! She was awesome, she was MAO! Shuuzou made a really good point in the second clip: if the season had ended right after Worlds, with that disappointing finish, then Mao would have to carry all this regret and potentially self-doubt with her for several months until next season, and everyone would be wondering "I wonder if she'll be ok, if she can come back from this"... But then, to make a comeback like that! With a new personal best score! That was truly amazing!! I was thinking today that it may even have been better than winning Worlds last year! To have plunged into that deep hole of despair, when Mao questioned if she is really suited to skating or not--and then to bring out everything she could do, and skate two beautiful, visibly clean programs--that must have felt utterly amazing! In Mao's beaming face at the end of her FS, I saw that girl that made me a figure skating fan in the first place: 15-year old Mao Asada, ecstatic after pulling off a perfect FS at the 2005 GPF. When I saw that, I thought "Mao's back" - not just the "landing all her jumps and skating cleanly" Mao, but the Mao who believes in herself, who loves to skate, and can't help but share that joy with others. I think this is exactly what Mao needed headed into the Olympic season. Last season ended with deep satisfaction--Mao finally got her World gold--but this season, yes, Mao is pleased, but even more so, I think she's excited. Her success at WTT has only whetted her appetite for more--to see just how far she can go, how high she can score. Oh, I can't wait!

Of course, this doesn't mean I'm going to stop my daily search for Mao clips and anything pertaining to skating, either.

I follow both too, though I'm probably not as obsessed with tennis as I am with figure skating. But that's because while I like some players more than others, I don't really have favourites. I'm still pulling for Federer to break records, but my hope is starting to dwindle a little bit. As for the skating-rebound syndrome, I'm pretty much ok now. I had a rough time on Monday since I have to get up extra early, but it was so sunny outside that it kinda woke me up/washed away the remnants of the end-of-winter-depression. I'm really gonna miss skating though. I'll try to follow the shows as much as I can and talk to you guys often.

The fact that we'll get to see Mao every Sunday on the "Dream Lab" show makes me happy! Yes, chiyori, and clovera and EVERYONE - please come by often! Here's another WTT banquet vid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g1ivYOTtG1kI missed it earlier, but when I watched it again, I realized that Makino (Mao's trainer) and Janna-sensei (Shanetta Folle) are sitting at the table behind Mao. I guess that means Makino is considered one of Mao's coaches?? Or is everyone invited? Also - in the interview with Shuuzou - they showed some backstage clips of Mao warming up. I cracked up both times, because I was like, "jeez, Mao has SO many people standing there watching her stretch." There's Shanetta, of course, and Makino, and then there's also Reiko Ogawa (who seems like her competition mama) and Kato-san (who seems like her competition papa). Wow, Mao's got quite the entourage! One last comment - in Mao's "Por Una Cabeza," did you see that Mao added the steps before the 3F, like in her SP?? So cool!

| I also saw Ichiro in Mao's table. I guess many famous people in Japan were also invited? And does anyone ever see banquet pics from world? I am a little bit surprised that I haven't seen any photos from it. Makino also went to LA. I guess he might accompany with Mao in every competition. http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/olympics_blog/2009/03/mao-asada-loves.htmlI don't know whether this link is posted before a lot. I simply love to see her speaking English. Uhmm, partially because only when she speaks English, I could understand her. And she is really cute when she speaks English especially when she tries to figure out which word is appropriate. | |

| Pretty sure that's a look-alike since Ichiro is back in the States playing for the Mariners, as usual. As for Makino-san's schedule...I do expect him to be everywhere near Mao, since the JSF likes to keep a tight leash on pretty much everything. Besides, there's good ol' Lady Shirota of the JSF who I'm sure is just itching to make sure the Japanese ladies get their 2nd gold medal in the Olys. | |

(I know you've translated some of the stuff during Kozu's program already.) I didn't know they called Nobu "Naru-kun" - I'll have to start calling him that! I was so amused that Shanetta Folle gave Nobu a high five and shook his hand! And I said this already, but watching Mao cheer for Taka-chan and then stand behind him and put up horns on his head (like bunny ears) was sooo cute!
