| this is from time magazine's article about the ten olympic athletes to watch at the olympics. MAO was #3 "The Land of the Rising Sun would like nothing better than to claim back-to-back Olympic ladies skating champions, and Asada, 19, may be just the one to step into countrywoman Shizuka Arakawa's golden skates. Her ace on the ice is the triple Axel, the most difficult jump performed by a female skater. She landed one successfully at her national championships in December to secure her Olympic berth, but it's high-risk; she's flopped a couple of times too. With Kim known to be one of the most consistent skaters in the sport, a golden repeat for Japan may slip past Asada. However, they are so popular, in each publication they dont mention Plushenko, Lambiel, or any pairs, Yuna and Mao will be the stars, I dont know if that is good or bad . | |

| Hi Guys. This is Liffey. I've been offline for a while because my computer crashed and I lost all of my passwords. I tried to use the retrieve password feature on this site, but I keep receiving an error message. If anyone knows how I can retrieve my password and use my real user name again, please let me know. Anyways, I didn't see this posted anywhere, but the practice groups for the Olympics have been announced. Mao is practicing with her Japanese teammates and Carolina, which I think is great. She and Yuna won't have to focus on each other during the practice, and the crazy media will be kept somewhat in check. Plus, I think Mao will feel much more comfortable and at ease with her teammates around her. Here are all the practice groups: Saturday, Feb. 20: 7:00-11:00 (5 groups, 40 mins) Group 2 (7:00-7:40): CHN, ITA, JPN (3), TURGroup 3 (7:50-8:30): AUS, BEL, RUS (2), USA (2) Group 4 (8:40-9:20): AUT, EST, GEO, GER, KOR (2) Group 5 (9:30-10:10): GBR, HUN, POL, SVK, SLO, UZB Group 1 (10:20-11:00): CAN (2), FIN (2), ESP, SUI Sunday, Feb. 21: 10:45-14:45 (5 groups, 40 mins): Group 3 (10:45-11:25): AUS, BEL, RUS (2), USA (2) Group 4 (11:35-12:15): AUT, EST, GEO, GER, KOR (2) Group 5 (12:25-13:05): GBR, HUN, POL, SVK, SLO, UZB Group 1 (13:15-13:55): CAN (2), FIN (2), ESP, SUI Group 2 (14:05-14:45): CHN, ITA, JPN (3), TURMonday, Feb. 22: 10:20-14:40 (6 groups, 35 mins each) in SP start order. Since Japan's first public practice session is early in Feb.20 morning, does this mean she will arrive in Vancouver in Feb.19? Or she will skip the first practice session? I hope it is the former one. | |

| Sigh. I can't believe even with Mao's recent comeback that there are still so many skating fans who are doubting her and saying harsh criticisms about her. Maybe I should stay off of the other skating forums for a bit . I just want Mao to kick butt in Vancouver and prove all these people wrong! I am also so nervous about Olympics~~~~ | |

Yeah, the major skating forums are pretty much filled with 90% trash...not even just toward Mao, but toward other skaters, too. Somehow the Goldenskate 4CC Ladies LP thread got turned into a conversation talking about how wonderful Yu-Na and her mother are, and making up excuses why Yu-Na's LP at GPF wasn't perfect (she had to walk up a hill by her hotel too many times, apparently ) I gave up posting regularly on there except for Junior events. .__. Not to mention you can tell there are some serious pro-Yu-Na posters there that will literally beat down any positive thing said about Mao with an equally negative comment--and it's annoying because it's always the same people (I could name names--but I wont). FSU is even worse... | |

| I can't believe it's so close. The men will start in a week already On one hand I don't want wait longer because I'm already way of too excited but on the other hand I don't really want to see it yet because then it would be over so soon. I don't know if it makes any sense It's a weird feeling.... AAHHHHH ! Goo Mao! Goo Stéphane! | |
