Mao, you are just too wonderful. They gave Mao a fill-in-the-blanks sign that said "I want to tell _____ to ______ " and Mao said, "I want to tell Mama 'thank you.'" They retold that story about Mao writing a letter to her mother when she was little and her mother was sick. She had written "I'll try hard at skating, so get well soon."

Mao then said that her mother told her, "Good job" and "Even though it's not a gold medal I'm still happy." And Mao teared up. I was so moved. She is just so genuine, she is so full of selfless love, and those tears just pierced my heart...

Batsuchan, your post made me cry... I agree with you, Mao is so genuin and gentle.
I think Mao is such a mysterious girl. In usual, she is shy and mischievous at the same time. She says she is forgetful, but I have read some article which says Mao remembers journalists' faces and names at first meet.
She cries easily but sometimes becomes so tough. She is sweet and cute off the ice, but she is so beautiful and elegant on the ice...
I know everyone has some sides on their characters, but I think Mao is particular in this point. I mean... I can't stop loving her

Awe, It's so cute! Mirai is such a lovely girl and I'm glad she enjoyed her first Olympics!

But this is VERY intriguing. It's clearly the night of the EX (2/27) because Mao has the Caprice ribbon in her hair. I guess Taka-chan was there to watch? But how come only HE and Mao-chan are pictured with Mirai? I know Mirai is pretty good friends with Miki too, and she probably performed in the EX too, but she's no where to be found. And Dai, for that matter..HMM, very interesting!!

I love that Hao and Dan Zhang are like older siblings for everyone. I will never forget when Mao 'knocked down' Hao after the EX at Worlds 2009. I mean, he did steal her stuffed Aero, so I don't blame her!

Mirai is so adorable. She got on the wrong bus. It's interesting how Mao and Taka seem to be always together in photos.

The pic with Zhanna is so sweet! But again, I feel a little sad that Zhanna (probably) won't be coaching her anymore...

As Genie pointed out, Mao said she was listening to Ayumi Hamasaki until she had to perform.

I'm glad she looked like her normal self here. But apparently that was before the interview with Mai, since she said she hadn't seen her yet. So I guess she got composed and calm and then she got all teary again.

I'm glad that the TV announcer (Ando-san?) made sure to tell Mao that Japan was really, really proud of her silver medal.

After they showed the clip with Machiko-sensei, she asked Mao what she'd like to say to Machiko-sensei when she saw her. Mao looked so much like her younger self when she was thinking. Finally she said, "I guess I'll ask her 'Did you watch?'" And the announcer was like, of course she was watching!

At the end, Mao said she wanted to go to the Olympics again. That's our girl, isn't it? The night is not yet over and she's already looking to the next goal!
