sorry~I am back. I thought the interview yesterday was translated by others and just realized we only translated the first sentence and felt excited.

In first paragraph, she said she enjoyed a cozy dinner in hotel room with Sato Coach and Kozuka senshui (Taka) and talked a lot last night.

about what kind of 2012 she expect? she said there were a lot of things happened during 2011, and she has overcome. she thinks it's important to make those things she overcame in 2011 become her power.

theme of 2012 is the level up.she thinks she is more stable now and want to level up her jumps.

The other article about Taka's father talked about Mao's mother. in brief, he said even a lot ppl in the industry (figure skating) criticized kyoko-san was not expert / professional in figure skating (to arrange things for mao). but she just did that for her daughter. when she encountered something she didn't know, she asked Taka's father and tried very hard.

I think the scores she got at nationals stuck in Mao's head through she would have scored a lot higher without the mistakes, I think it was all due to the lack of practice since it has been a heck-tick 2 weeks where she couldn't prepare like she usually does, and Mao knows that. I also noticed that Mao's confidence in herself has gradually returned as her new jumps has become more and more stable again. what i find interesting is that Mao has mentioned in several articles that she wants to level p ad knowing Mao it was already expected that that as soon as she had mastered her new jumps she would gradually upgrade the technical content, cause that was one of the reason why she even began taking her old jumps apart, which was to be a technically even stronger skater! now it really will be interesting to see how and what she will upgrade and how fast it will go from now on until she finally reaches the technical content she was looking for!

seriously with every competition that goes by i become more and more sure that Mao did the right thing by taking the big risk and sacrifice of reworking her jumps!

That does sound very interesting!! Even I find it a bit puzzling to translate , but I think it translates to something like "Enjoying finding friends/If you find someone you want to make happy, then you can become strong." Perhaps I am messing it up though...

Wow, thank you so much for posting that, emmie.

They ask Akiko about Mao's mother, and Akiko says that she actually knew Mao's mother quite well from when she was little. Akiko struggled to describe what she thought, but basically said that Mao must be really sad, that there must be a hole in Mao's heart, so when she heard that Mao would compete at Nationals, she was really amazed at how strong Mao is. And then at the competition, when Mao skated the same as usual [itsumo doori], she was so impressed by Mao's strength that she felt she might cry.

Then they ask Akiko if she talked to Mao [about her mother's death], and Akiko said that when she returned to Japan from Canada and started practicing in Nagoya, the first thing that Mao said to her was, 'I'm sorry about everything. I'm sorry that I made you have to do all those interviews and that I caused such a disturbance." So then Akiko actually started crying, and said "It's fine, so let's all try our best."



I knew Miki and Mao (and Kana) were all very close from when they were little, but I guess Akiko must have been close to Mao too! I'm so glad Team Japan is like a second family for Mao..

Mao is so strong that I didn't see any tears shed in any news clips about Japanese Nationals.
She is such a tough young lady beyond words.

Just found out about Mao's mother's passing. My deepest condolences to Mao and her family.

I was reading through Mao's Wikipedia page (quick catch-up session after falling behind on Mao news yet again due to Real Life ) and was overjoyed when I found out Mao had won the Cup of Russia. Then I saw the next part, about having to withdraw from GPF due to her mother's illness, and subsequent passing.... What a tragedy for Mao and Mai to have to bear on their young shoulders!

It's been a few weeks now but I pray for strength and healing for Mao, Mai and their family.

It must be hard for Mao to get back up and resume training again, but she has done so admirably. Good luck, Mao <3 And congratulations on yet another Nationals title!
