I was there and close to crying ... Oh thanks for posting this. I'm tearing up, one more season and then she might not be competing again. She looked like she's about to cry after she finished. Whatever is bothering her, I hope she'll fully heal before the season starts. And seeing all those flowers warmed my heart, she is so much loved in Japan. - let`s talk wrote:

What?! I mean they were great last year and pretty much tied with team Italy, but this year, I found Team Russia better, was pleasantly surprised about Team China (they were adorable) and I loved Team Japan. If it were me, and the team spririt was judged on the "antics" in the K&C, I'd give it to team Russia, but NO ONE comes close to Team Japan, they're not even a team but a family.

| I find many of the things he said in this article insulting, but especially calling WTT "stupid competition". I think it is very disrespectful towards the organizers and the audience. I wonder if this article has been discussed in Japan at all and what people there think. | |

Isn't Rosie DiManno basically one of those unreliable journalists, though?

| Based on other Chan posts from this forum, I think it's not surprising he said that. It was brutally honest to the point of being rude. As an athlete, you're not one to say that a competition is stupid. It's unbecoming. It's really degrades my view of him as a person, if there is anything left to degrade. But wait. If this Di Manno person is unreliable... I'd ignore this article altogether because I have other more important skating stuff to think about (Mao!!). | |

Isn't Rosie DiManno basically one of those unreliable journalists, though? She could be, but I doubt she would go as far as making stuff up. I am sure things in quotes is what Patrick actually said

| Funny, I read that article and came right to this thread to post it but I can see someone already has.... just like.... who on his team is telling him that it is acceptable to talk like this in interviews? I have never seen a bigger sore loser (aside from Scott Moir, but at least he knows more or less where to draw the line). I'm sorry that the crowd in London loved you more than the crowd in Japan did but at least they cheered for everyone (even for you when you fell on that final spin and gave up entirely before the music even ended). Why do people automatically assume that winning a gold medal makes their season 10x longer than their competitors who have been to the same number of competitions as them? Just get off your pedestal already It's gotten to the point where I cheer for his falls.... and I never do that. | |
