Nobunari is going to work with Morozov

A new article about Nobu:

It says he will work with Morosov in USA this season. The article doesn't say whether he will be his main coach or assistant coach.
A long time ago I said on FSU that it would be good if Nobu worked with Morosov on his steps and CoP-smartness, so it feels funny for me to see it actually happening.
Also, Nobu is scheduled to perform at Festa On Ice in Korea.

Meanwhile, Daisuke is in a bit of a slump and is considering a coaching change. It would be fun if he worked with Barkell. Then they couch exchange coaches again.

This one says that Dai-chan will stay with Morosov after all, and he and Nobu will train together. Sounds like fun. Inskate posted this on GS, I hope you don't mind linking! They look so cute.

Some of these newspapers tend to post unreliable and sensationalist material, so the news should be taken with a grain of salt. But it looks like JSF Chairman Ito has not informed Daisuke's managers, who were very surprised with this news. They feel that having two rivals work together might not be practical. Meanwhile, Ito is being vague as usual and says that it is not decided yet whether Takahashi will continue working with Morosov.
I wonder why he did not inform Daisuke's managers about the possible coaching change. But perhaps considering other people's feelings, or at least conforming to the rules of basic courtesy, is not something he finds necessary.

ETA: Morosov praised Nobunari's skating ("he's a wonderful skater") in TV news report, accoriding to a fan's blog post. I haven't actually seen the news, though.

The second one says that it was Morosov who suggested a few times that Nobu should train with him and Nobu finally decided it was a good idea.
That's good to hear. I remember that some time ago also Alexei Yagudin said that if he had enough time to become a coach, he would like to work with Mao and Nobu.

I think that it's unusual for the coach to seek out a skater, isn't it..? IIRC, all Morozov's recent Japanese pupils were either recommended to him by JSF (Miki) or asked him to coach them (Shizuka, Daisuke).

I think the only recent case when it was the coach that suggested working together was Tarasova asking Mao...

Too bad that Daisuke decided to switch coaches after all. But maybe it's for the best... If he can find a coach just for himself, as he said in the interview, maybe he would be able stay in Japan more and would not be forced to spend so much time away from his family. Nobu, on the other hand, could use some staying away from the intrusive press.

A lot of things makes sense now. Boy, is Nikolai pissed off at Ihara!

Not that I'm surprised. It looks like not only did the manager tried to interfere with the coaching process and sabotaged Daisuke's chances at Worlds, but also tried to push all the blame on Nikolai's and Nobunari's shoulders. Judging from this quote:

when Nobunari decided to switch to Morozov, he thought that Daisuke already is not working with him anymore... It must have been a huge shock when he learned that their relationship was not officially dissolved. He sounded really downcast and guilty about this in his blog entry.

I wonder if what happened was that Nikolai warned Ihara at Worlds that if he doesn't back off, he will be forced to stop working with Daisuke and take on another student, and Ihara didn't even take this seriously (because it's certainly a huge sacrifice to give up such a successful pupil as Daisuke).

It's too bad that Gallagher choose to write the article in such a sensationalist tone. It looked to me that all the people involved have already moved on with their life, so IMHO there is no need to scratch the already healed wounds open. I think a calm article would be preferable. It would be enough to simply tell that Nikolai had trouble cooperating with Ihara to the point that it reflected negatively on Daisuke's performance, and because of that he decided to resolve the relationship and take on another student.

I think that Daisuke can do well no matter what coach he is working with... He already learned a lot from Morozov and perhaps it will be the best for him to try something new.
Meanwhile, Nobu can use help in two areas that Morozov is famous to be great in - footwork sequences and mental strenght, so I think they are a good match.
