ahhahahaha the even through the costume maker has copied everything from Mao's costume, it's still looks like a bad copy compared to the origial Mao was wearing!

they said the plan to release the book was started around 1 years ago (maybe after a lone time, there is something changed)
since the way they promoted the book was not approved (?) by author (Mao) or not author's intention to do that way.

hope her agency can fix it and still release the book.

Thanks shikure for the news.

To be honest, I'm happy that Mao has courage to say "NO" to people when she thinks she cannot trust them.

According to Mao's message, she and the publisher had been working for a year to publish the book as a message book from a competitive figure skater. But, the publisher went ahead with the advertisement and announcement in the way that Mao didn't intend to happen. So, she decided to cancel the publication. She's very sorry and asks for kind understanding.

It seems based on google search Mao wasn't happy about the phrase used in the advertisement of the book "Mom, thank you so much. I cannot thank you enough." She probably didn't want the publisher to use her mother's death in the advertisement at all.

According to the table of content, the book looked so interesting, encouraging and enlightening even for ordinary people and students. It looked the book was full of advise from Mao regarding positive mind-setting and self-discipline/control for leading happy day-to-day life and making success. It's really disappointing that we will not be able to read it.

And the last section, as Shikure highlighted in bold, was her thanks message to her mother. This is a small part of the entire book and the book is not about her and her mother at all. So, it is understandable that Mao felt uncomfortable to see her mother used in the advertisement.

Again, I'm happy Mao said NO when it's need to be said so. There are people who try to exploit celebrities and I'm happy Mao managed to escape it. I hope Mao will find another publisher to let us read such an interesting book in the near future.

I second what you said Linglang. Mao is right to say NO.

POPLAR used Mao's mom's death as a promotion to sell more the book and this was not the initial plan and agreement between them. The book's cover made it look like it was all about Mao and her mom.

We have to notice that Poplar is very famous for abusing famous people's popularity to make more money. This kind of thing happened before.

Somehow, it makes me very happy to learn that Mao is someone who is able to say "no". It's necessary when you're so famous, to not let people take advantage of you.

They are doing the right thing and hope they can find other publisher to publish the book.
Since the book is what Mao wants to share with her fans about her life, I just don't want the book just disappear.

Me too. I didn't realize until a few days ago that the book consisted of essays actually written by Mao, instead of a book written ABOUT Mao, so I also hope that we may one day get to see it published!

That reminds me! Mai is going to be on "VS Arashi" again on 1/19. That's the show where they had the giant 3-D maze, and the skaters got 'bingo' in record time. Too bad a whole bunch of skaters won't be on it--maybe we'll get to see them on another game show soon though.

I was thinking to myself that another reason Mao is special/unique is that her sister is a celebrity as well. Like, we don't know much about Miki's brother or Dai's siblings or Nobu's siblings (I think he has some?). But since Mai is also a celebrity, we get to see Mao and Mai interacting on TV or in interviews a lot, and it always makes me to see how close they are.
