I don't think it makes that much of a difference... Depending on how you time your correspondences, Moscow/Québec flights range from 13 to 20 hours, while Tokyo/Québec flights are more like 15 to 20 hours. I don't think Mao will want to spend her precious few training days alone in Moscow, living in a hotel room, when she can be with her family and have her coach readily available in Japan, especially when preparing for such an important event. Coach Sato has other students in Japan so he can't stay with her in Moscow. Anyway, looking at the flying times and the time differences, I think she'll be no worse off coming from Tokyo than from Moscow.

I don't think we need to worry. Of course, she'll be tired, but Mao is used to travel and jetlag, like all the other skaters. She'll pull through.

Chiyori, I agree with you that she is with Sato team, and she doesn't share coach with Taka only. Actually, Sato team also have a lot of students who are not top skaters yet.
In addition, it's nice to go home after such big event and relax a little bit at home, right ?

btw, UA is her sponsor, I think she can have good trip all the time.

UA as in United Airlines right? I never think about checking them for prices... it's pretty interesting. I love the flight availability (you'll have to excuse me; I'm used to Air Canada telling me there are no flights to that destination on the days I selected). There are a lot of options! I'm planning a trip to Japan in 2013 so I'd love to not have to pay too much for the flight since it's not exactly the cheapest country to visit

ETA: About Coach Sato's other students... I don't remember when or where, but I think I read somewhere that one of his students was an old lady (or man, I can't recall for sure), like in their 70s, so yeah, even if it's not elite skaters, he has other responsibilities. I think it's awesome that such a high level coach would be interested in coaching a senior though... Whoever it is, that person is lucky as hell.

Last time when I took UA flight with a short friend, they thought my friend is children.
because Asian always looks younger than actual age, and they kept taking care of her all the way.
But actually she is adult and not young at all.

Japan is expensive compared to Taiwan but I still like to visit there

I love the Nepia photos! I think they're some of the best pictures ever of Mao, they really highlight her : a natural, angelic beauty. Really cute and really elegant at the same time.

I hope Mao chooses Kenji Miyamoto for one of her programs next season.

Hopefully, she'll get inspired by Daisuke's gorgeous long program, afterall she was inspired by his very high sp score (without a quad) and she left the 3A out of her program (for now). Maybe Dai will do some more magic.

I don't know with you guys but I would love to see Mao chage her sp costume, eventhrough it fits her story/theme to the music I think wearing a dress would be much more flattering, and would make parts of the choreography much more visible.. and a new fs dress would also be really nice since she has kept the same dress through the whole last season.. i know that Mao probably doesn't have time to change her sp/fs dress for the GPF, but i hope it will be changed be the time nationals arrive!

and another thing I hope we will see a strong and clean sp/fs by the time the GPF arrives, I would really be so thrilled, to see Mao skate the lights out with or without the 3A in the sp, cause I think no matter what she will put back the 3A in the fs by then!

it would also be interesting to hear when Mao is planning to put back her 3-3 and what kind of 3-3 she would include, cause I have see Mao doing several 3-3 combinations in practice clips and in the warmup at recent competition, but she doesn't seem like she wants to include them yet!

another interesting thing would be if Mao be if Mao decides to change her choreography in the fs again, what do you guys think?

At first, I preferred Mao to be in a dress, but this costume grew on me as the season progressed and as they tweaked the top so either way would be fine for me. The most important thing is for Mao to be comfortable in what she's wearing. She said all the beading was made of swarovski crystals and seemed to like the costume very much.

I don't think she's gonna go for the 3-3 this season, but I can't really say about the 3A. If it's consistent enough she might go for it in the LP, but I don't think Coach Sato and Mao will put it in the program unless she's been practicing it clean regularly. I think their main focus is to max how well she can do the elements, get all the levels and take the artistry to another level.

ballerinamao, I love the sp costume, so I hope she won't change it, but I do wish she'd change the Liebestraume costume. It's gorgeous, but like you said she's been wearing it for a year now and it would be great, if she'd bring something new.

About 3-3, I'm with maowataiyo. I don't think, she'll do any 3-3 this season, but when she does, I think it'll be 3F-3Lo, although I'm rooting for 3F-3T (it's much safer).

Hopefully, she won't go for 3A until it's ready.

I think the possibility of seeing a 3f-3t is much bigger then seeing her bring back her 3lo-3lo when she decides to include one, since Mao by the time most be much more used to having a combination with a triple toe at the end through Mao usuelly prefers the 3lo-3lo combination, but I think you guys may be right about Mao focusing on the new elements she has already included!

but I still think that it would be nice seeing Mao perform her sp, with a dress since I think it would make the choreography look much more fitting, especially at the footwork section!

but I have to say I am so happy that Mao kept her fs dress this season at NHK where she wore the same dress at the same place last year where it all became a nightmare shortly after she began taking her jumps apart, and delieving such a beautiful performance to show the people what her gutsynes and determination has made her accomplish and that it was worth it at the end!, but I now I hope she uses a slevelesss dress for her her fs, and I will still hope to see her change her sp costume to a dress later on! (through i actually like her sp-costume)

at this part. Agree with everything except the sp costume I love it, it really makes her stand out. And after the disasters that were her costumes in previous years, I'm really pleasantly surprised about Scherezade. (thank you TAT for not ruining this one)

I've seen her practising 3flip-3loop combo in videos, that's why I think, she'll bring this one, but like I said, I hope she'll do 3F-3T, since with this combo it's less likely to get a downgrade.

Is she eating a baby shark? I've eaten a lot of strange things in my life, but I haven't had shark.

BUT, more importantly, doesn't that seem like A LOT of food for just one person? Even if Mao's manager was with her, that's still a lot of food for TWO people--soup, lobster, shark (?) and crab legs (?)...

So, you know what? I'm just going to imagine that Taka-chan was there sharing the meal with Mao! We know that he loves watching "Liebestraume," so I will just pretend that he took a little vacation to go cheer Mao on.
