Gahh, I am so far behind! I haven't watched any of the senior GPF yet, and probably won't for awhile. I'm so terrible; it's really not interesting for me unless Mao is competing.

BUT, I did watch the junior ladies competition, since you all were talking about it and made me curious!

Sochi is going to be interesting, isn't it? But I have to say, that as Pochi mentioned, I have been TOTALLY spoiled by Mao.

My #1 thought while watching the Jr. Ladies competition was, "Wow, Mao was really a miracle, wasn't she?" Because today's juniors don't even come close.

That lightness and flow, the pop on the jumps, those lovely arms... There's simply no comparison to today's juniors, in my opinion!

The Japanese media is making such a fuss over Kanako now, and I like Kanako, but PUH-LEAZE, Mao's 2005 GPF win was so much more exciting and impressive. When Mao appeared on the senior scene, she was seen as the skater to change skating forever. I don't think the same can be said of anyone who's appeared since then. Sigh...

Totally agree! I love Kanako's personality and her humbleness, but her skating is just good...Mao's is exceptional and special. But I don't think Kanako thinks of herself the way that the media portrays her, so silly media haha!
