Gahh, I am so far behind!
I haven't watched any of the senior GPF yet, and probably won't for awhile. I'm so terrible; it's really not interesting for me unless Mao is competing.
BUT, I did watch the junior ladies competition, since you all were talking about it and made me curious!
Sochi is going to be interesting, isn't it? But I have to say, that as
Pochi mentioned, I have been TOTALLY spoiled by Mao.
My #1 thought while watching the Jr. Ladies competition was, "Wow, Mao was really a miracle, wasn't she?" Because today's juniors don't even come close.
I went back and watched Mao's 2004 JGPF:

There's simply no comparison to today's juniors, in my opinion!
The Japanese media is making such a fuss over Kanako now, and I like Kanako, but PUH-LEAZE, Mao's 2005 GPF win was so much more exciting and impressive. When Mao appeared on the senior scene, she was seen as the skater to change skating forever.
I don't think the same can be said of anyone who's appeared since then. Sigh...
