| Mr. Gallagher seriously needs to reconsider his career choice... There are few things that annoy me more than journalists pulling the facts out of their... backsides, especially when the needed information is readily available online. His articles used to be quite decent a few years ago, but recently it seems as if he doesn't even care about the facts anymore, he just tries to stir some sensation. Sad thing is, there are people who trust the "professional" articles a bit too much; I've already encountered a few people who believed in Gallagher's previous article and were surprised that Mao participates in the GP series after all. - Lady_in_black wrote:
- Okami, wow, I stand corrected! Thanks, I had no idea Mao landed the 3F-3L combo in 2011, even if it was just in the warm up. I remember seeing her in practice with good 2A-3T though but she never got credit for it in competitions. What do you think her jump layout will be for her SP?
For now, I think 2A or 3A, 3F-2L, 3L. A lot of people seem to think that Mao will skip 3A for now, and, actually, should she want to take a break from it this is probably the best season to do it (no YuNa or Miki, the Russian ladies still too young to go to Worlds and/or get really high PCS). Frankly speaking it's too difficult to guess Mao's jumping layout, because the practice clips that were aired recently were actually recorded in September, shorty after Mao started to practice in the "on-season" mode. Judging from the Weider clip, the Mao Team was still decideing n the best strategy back the and a lot could have changed depending on how well Mao's training was going on. Point in case: last season there was a lot of shuffling going on both in SP and the LP depending on how solid Mao's 3F and 2A-3T was. The final layouts weren't quite the same as on the day she debuted her programs.

| Here's a more researched preview of NHK by PJ Kwong. I do not like the fact that she insists on making predictions as she always seems to jinx the skaters she chooses (and here she chose Mao and Dai), but aside from the sarcastic () comment about Mao's previous coaching situation, she has very nice things to say and seems to have been keeping up with Mao news this off-season, as opposed to our friend Gallagher... www.cbc.ca/sports/figureskating/opinion/2011/11/redemption-the-theme-for-nhk-trophy.html | |

www.cbc.ca/sports/figureskating/opinion/2011/11/redemption-the-theme-for-nhk-trophy.html Ugh... I hope she doesn't jinx Mao and Dai. I haven't been so fond of PJ Kwong lately. Have any of you seen her rather silly top 10 list for ladies? There's definitely a lot of pressure on Mao. I have faith she is strong enough to rise above it but I'm very nervous! As for the 3A, I think it is good strategy to not do it in the SP. Consistency is really key this season for Mao. But if they are sticking to the same layout all season, that would mean she won't attempt the 3A in the SP the entire season. I really wonder if Sato could convince Mao to do this. Personally, I hope Sato succeeds because this is smart strategy and maybe with less focus on the 3A, people and judges for that matter can finally appreciate Mao for her beautiful skating.

Sunday 11/13 from 2-4 pm eastern. Knowing NBC, this is only the mens and ladies LP, with maybe a single SP or ice dance thrown in. Here's a link from icenetwork with the US TV schedule for the season (NBC and Universal Sports): http://web.icenetwork.com/events/schedule.jsp?mode=tv

| Can't wait for Mao!! I don't like this version of Scheherazade, really hope it will be well arranged. Though NHK Trophy is like all-star event, there is one Japanese lady unknown. It is Ishikawa. Who is she? What is so exciting is that her FS is choreographed by Shizuka Arakawa. That is what I am so interested in too. Source : http://www.plus-blog.sportsnavi.com/y-love/article/182 | |

| Mao is up 3rd in music rotation. She's gonna use her LP music. She did a wally and landed a loop.
1)Ashley's music already started. She is the only one using SP music for this session. 2)Agnes 3)Mao 4)Shoko 5)Akiko
Mao is up! Her starting pose is different from last seasons. She popped her 3A attempt. She nailed her 2 flip combos. Her layout seems to be the same from last season.
So I guess it's:
3A 3F+2Lo 3Lz 2A+3T 3F+2Lo+2Lo 3S 3Lo
