| I fell in love with mao's swan! It's maybe a bit early, but this can be the best program I've ever seen from her, everything is so refined, and it's just the beginning of the season! The second spin didn't count because it was a second CCoSp, and all the spins have to be different. The 3F-2Lo-2Lo became a 3F<+2Lo<+2Lo<< or something like this, probably, and she obviously received a negative GOE for the 3Lz, it was still a flutz (I think it won't ever be a pure lutz, even if she works on it ten years!) but the choreography and the whole program are just , it deserves at least 9.25 for SS, TR and CH! It's maybe the first time but I have to say this... well done, TAT! | |

- OMG I LOVE this program! I love the speed, the quick steps and it's jammed packed with transitions and interesting stuff! The speed on the choreo sq at the is very good and can only get better. Go Mao!
Plus, Mao looks so good! The weight and muscle... I think she's probably about back to where she was in 2007-2008, plus the added strength of a couple more years. The jumps she did land cleanly where just spectacular, high and floating... god, that first 3L...
When her music choice came out, people on FSU or GS were talking about how it would get compared to Ashley's (lol what the hell... it was a good program, but it was certainly not legendary, nor is the skater, even though I do like her) and to Sasha's (that's more like it). But I don't think it will. It blows Ashley's program out of the water and it's completely different from Sasha's.
Now I can't wait to see this in better quality and I will be a real pain 'til COC because I SO want to see what Mao can do with this program with a bit more mileage!
Actually, her dress reminds me of a cross between both her dresses from the 07-08 GP, the black and white one, and the bird one. I love it. And both of Mao's SP dresses from that season were TAT creations, so she CAN do good. If she designed this again, we have proof!
And wow, Taka-chan sure looks handsome in those pictures! I couldn't agree with you more! It's just so good to see Mao looking healthy again and that smile after she skated!!! I love, love, love the program. I've been watching Ashley's, Sasha's, Adelina's and other swan lake programs since Mao's music announcement and I'm glad it's totally different -- that plus this fits Mao perfectly. Can't wait to see it more in the season!

| Daisuke... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pGPON2mYkW0&feature=youtu.beFrom afar and blurred, his costume actually looks ok lol! But really good skate, though I hope he will add a bit of choreo between the first 3 jumping passes once he's more at home with having 2 quads. And I don't like Morozov, but if he can help Dai be confident about the quad again like he was in 07-08 (remember that ugly ass purple costume with the sword?), than I'm all for him being part of the team! | |

| Mao was simply stunning in every way ! by the end of the performance, It even made me think of a lot of tings she went through (Vancouver Oly, pressure, media attack!, loss of mom, loss of weight, etc) and I had tears in my eyes.
I like everything about this year's Mao's choice: the music, choreo, dress, etc.
I watched the K&C on TV and saw Taka holding the tissue box for Mao. How sweet he is !
As for her future scores, do you guys think that we can guess from today's score ? I often think scores are so different from one compeition to another because they depend on the judges, the countries, who else skate and the skating order. A skater can skate the same way and make similar mistakes in 2 competitions but the scores would come out different. I think Mao should receive a higher score than today if she skates clean but if Amano is the judge, I am too afraid it will never be perfect....or am I too worried?

If Mao skates clean she will receive higher score, she gave a lot of points away here. However if Amano is judging she would have to be freaking perfect (which no one is) to not get any > from him. I wouldn't mind Amano if he were fair and would try to screw everyone, but with him it feels like it's personal. This is why I'm so worried about those (too) many loops.

As for the uniform, could be better....

I don't think Yuna coming back will affect Mao. If Yuna wants to win she'll have to skate great as well and Mao has a very COP friendly program this year (if she'd put 2T instead of the loop it would be perfect ). Not to mention, there are other skaters who judges like, so fighting for podium should be interesting. Hopefully we'll have a season full of fair judging, now that would be something. Dai is wearing uniform? I thought it was Taka.

| I just finally got caught up with the results of JO and everything else that I had missed I'm very pleased with Mao's results so early in the season, but I'm also glad that there is still some room for improvement, because honestly if she had won by a large margin I might have been worried about her peaking too early in the season and burning out by Worlds. I can't wait to see the Swan Lake program during the GP series now when she will be more used to performing it, and also seeing her short program as well. | |

| through it's still the beginning of the season, through Mao didn't have much time to adjust to this new program, through Mao wasn't perfect, through she obviously was nervous. watching her on the ice, reminded me once again why she is such a special skater, and one of kind. I enjoyed every moment she was on the ice. she really executet the program with soo much lightnes and elegance, all the transitions in the program made me forget the elements and just let me enjoy her skating . she has soo much presence on the ice that she makes one forget everything else, she just has this ability to create this special atmosphere that's kind of hard to describe. I really enjoyed her fs and i think this will be exquisite once she completely gets used to her program! | |

She was asking something like 'what ? am I on TV now ?' pointing at herself and the audience laughed. I think when Mao was joking around with her team, she didn't think the camera was showing her.

| TV broadcast vids of JO in best quality so far: Mao:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GfTap-n_1AU Akiko:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=91ROfqScP90 Dai:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sJuEcIxhPfw (You have got to see this! Except for one mistake it was pure perfection!) Taka:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ONepyvrK-nk Went to see JO and COI live with Luckyone! Since everyone already seems to know how well Mao skated at JO today, I won't mention much, but my god she skated so clean for maybe the first time in the beginning of the season! Luckyone and I were expecting a few obvious mistakes, but hoping she'd skate better than the beginning of the past 2 seasons. So I guess you can all imagine how surprised and happy we were to see Mao skate like she did today. There seems to have been some URs and her layback spin didn't count according to some news articles, plus her 2A-3T became 2A-2T, but still she seemed very calm and stable. And as always, her skating was soft and jumps so light and gracious. It's hard to understand why she hadn't skated to Swan Lake before...it fit her style perfectly! I was so tense before she started skating, but was so overjoyed when she finished and smiled. The audience cheered much more louder than you can hear through the TV broadcast, and I'm almost certain that every single person in Saitama Arena gave her a standing ovation. Eveyone went crazy the minute her performance finished. Btw, the Arena prohibited bouquet and present throwing which pissed me off at first, but I realized they never would've been able to afford enough flower girls if they allowed it. The audience today was full of figure skating maniacs like Luckyone and me; not to mention the place was full of hard core Mao, Dai, Jeff and Plush fans. These 4 skaters got the largest applause and standing ovations during JO even if they made some mistakes. Plush was having trouble with some of his jumps, not to mention he did that stupid looking strange spin again (somebody plz make him stop doing that!!!!!); but everyone loves him soooo much here in Japan he still got a huge standing ovation (from me too of course, I luv him♥). There were as much Russian flags as Japanese flags everywhere. I thought I was the no.1 Plush lover in Japan, but I'm not that confident about that now... Jeff skated quite well for a retired skater though there were several mistakes. Takahiko wasn't at his best but I think he landed at least 1 clean quad, just lost some stamina in the latter half of his program (It doesn't look that way on TV, but that's how it looked live). Brezina wasn't in good shape, and lost stamina like Takahiko, but his jumps were real high even when he popped them. Leonova didn't deliver that well either, but her skating has become more neater than last season I think (plus she obviously changed her make up; her face looked like a different person). Elene and Akiko had quite a few mistakes, but still they were both very charming and both of them seemed to have lost a few pounds which made them look more beautiful than the past season. Zawadzki fell and made lots of mistakes and ran out of stamina the most in Ladies, but she's only 18 so I think JO was a good experience for her; I do think she has potential, her skating will probably peak in the future. One of the things which surprised Luckyone and me was that Pattie got a real loud applause before he started to skate. I never knew he had so much fans in Japan! However, Pattie was in real bad condition today. If I remember correctly, I think he fell 4 times. Although I'm not much of a fan of his, I was looking forward to see his brilliant quads and speed live, so I was disappointed and really felt sorry for him (never thought I'd ever feel that way!). His edges were great, yes...but even in COI he only did 2 jumps which were quite shakey, so Luckyone and I assumed he might have been injured or something. Since he's too proud (or arrogant) to have a nervous break down, there must have been something wrong with his physical condition is what I'm guessing. Lastly, although Mao delivered well, I thought the best skater in this year's JO was Dai. His jumps were so speedy; maybe even faster than Plush this time, and quite solid. But it wasn't just that. Dai skated like he was in a trance and mesmerized the whole audience. I couldn't take my eyes off of every single move he made. He definitely had the IT quality. I've seen him skate live once before some years ago, but he's become a much stronger and artistic skater than ever! Nobody hesitated to stand up right after he finished. If he can skate like today or most likely even better, he's got the best chance of winning Sochi gold or at least this year's Worlds. I was a bit worried about his choice to team up with Morozov again, but it was probably the right thing to do. OTOH, honestly speaking though I was overwhelmed by Mao's performance, I thought the choreography was a little too standard for Tat's work. I admire Tat alot, but at this point I think she's starting to save all her best ideas for her young Russian skaters getting ready for Sochi. If someone told me that today's Swan Lake was choreoed by Lori, I would've believed so; that's how standard it seemed to me. But anyway, Mao skated brilliantly today so I'm more than satisfied. If it weren't for those small mistakes which was hardly noticable, I'm sure Mao's scores would have gone sky higher than Ashley's (but I'm fond of Ashley too, and even though I liked Mao's performance more, she skated as well as Mao. I think the one thing Ashley had more than Mao today was confidence, that's all. This might sound strange but Mao was calm and tense a bit at the same time, as she actually said she was nervous in an interview afterwards. But Mao too will be more confident once GP series starts since she managed a great season's start...No worries!). And like all of you, I believe she'll get better and better as the season goes on. I think her performance today made the judges (including the ISU judges who weren't there) confirm that Mao Asada is still a miracle. Oh, and I suppose we're all relieved about her costume now! Btw, COI will be broadcasted tomorrow in Japan. It was a brilliant show and I was able to enjoy it more relaxed than JO. I think Dai once again skated the best in COI, but the best 'peformer' was Candeloro. He was so funny and cute, it didn't matter a bit that he only jumped singles. Mao made some minor mistakes, but she was the most charming of the Ladies. | |

This is what's been worrying me for a while now. TAT is a choreographer for a "russian next big star" (Sotnikova), so I've wondered how this will play out for the Olympics. But then again TAT does love Mao, so I hope that if she'll be Mao's olympic choreographer she'll give Mao her best.

http://www.jsfresults.com/InterNational/2012-2013/jo/data0205.pdf As suspected: one of Mao's spins got 0 pts, e on the lutz and 4 of her jumps got <. Thanks! Yeah, there was a huge hook on the 3Lz landing. I find it interesting tough, that despite the obvious < and the e, she still lost less points than Ashley. Mao's flutz used to be as in your face as Ashley's so the improvement is obvious. Too bad about the 3 jump combo, but those 2L are dangerous... I'm actually surprised she got away with the 3L-2L... the 2nd jump looked awfully close to me. And I would love to see the 3S from a different angle.. I smell a minor two-foot and I think the judges did too. Overall, I felt that Mao got tight after that iffy, probable two-foot landing on the 2A and that it played with her nerves. I can't wait for her to get a little more confident and start showing off her jumps like she did that gorgeous opening 3L.
