| I thought Mao was going for the 3-3, but it seems like she changed her mind? It didn't seem to me like she was going for it. | |

| I find this interesting. According to the Ladies' protocol, everyone got an edge call on their lutz, except Irina, while Joannie didn't do a lutz. On the men's side, other than Jeff getting an edge call on his flip, no man got an edge call.
Javier's TES is scary (in a good way)! I'm impressed by Joannie. She is so competitive even until today. I wasn't a fan but I may be becoming one. And of course, Mao, love her!

| I went to both Japan Open and Carnival on Ice today. Mao defifnitely had a good day, she was very happy and cuitely proud of herself when the score showed up. The score is fair, her GOE is not cosmic (like some others get on a regular basis) and PCS is within the her usual range. Nevertheless there was a gap between Mao and music. Rach is an extremely powerful piece, you need terrific passion and amplitute to "pull it" off. Otherwise the difference between music and the skating will be obvious. Mao was probably too careful with jumps and went "relaxed" only at the final steps. Don't forget that was a team event and Mao was skating the last in her team. Considering that too members had a meh day, she didn't have the right to make a mistake(s). At Carnival on Ice she skated SP Nocturne. All three members (Mao, Dai, Kozuka) skated two competitive progs (LP&SP) at the same day. Thanks, cool guys! Mao was in that lavender dress that she was wearing at THE ICE. In the opening she actually showed up in the purple dress. That one of course looks more mature but a little heavier for Nocturne than the lavender ones. SP is perfect! It's a pure "Mao" thing that suits her skating and personality so well! Lori did good work here, very musical and ideal for Olympics. It's gonna be my favourite SP in Ladies this season I guess. She singled a trixel, did 3F and 3Lo-2Lo. In the encore she did the Rach steps. She does love it, as it seems! For Maozuka rooters. I was sitting right in the opposite arena of K&C. When Taka was skaing, Mao was literally "folllowing" him everywhere, her head, her body was replying to the music and Taka's skating. At some moment Kana asked her something, Mao answered in her usual soft manner, slightly moved her head to Kana and then got stucked back to Taka. So, maybe Maozuka rooters like myself still have some hope.... | |

| The most impressive part is Mao's improvement on her speed! That reflects in her jumps, flows, and the judges' scores of skating skill. Nicely done. Keep trying and pull off a clean performance of 8 triples of 6 different kinds! That is the so called athlete's spirit!!

Thank you so much for the report, let's talk. The bold part worries me. I watched the clip many times already and I thought she wasn't too careful as she was last season. But that wasn't the case. I know what I see on the small screen is different from what people see in the arena. I assume the gap between her and music that you noticed may be the reason why her PCS was held rather low. I understand possible reason you mentioned above. But, no matter what the reason, she has to get rid of it anyway. I'm sure Mr. Sato will help her work on it, because he's been consistently insisting the power is a factor she particularly needs to build up. I think they are still on the way for that goal. It's good that she learned lessons at JO, which she will be able to utilize to make improvements for next competition, SA. I'm really looking forward to hearing from members on this forum who will attend the game. Also, I really appreciate in advance your report on NHK.

| What I like the most is Mao's shape now. I hope she can build up her consistency! And her program received great comments from fans(Russians mostly). Everyone in love with the footwork, there will be great support at Olympics for sure! | |
