Mao in front of Ksenia. For the first time in my life I say thank you Shin Amano. Her jumps looked a but UR and I'm sure she didn't get away easily on them

I actually agree with you. I really thought she learned something this season after NHK trophy were she lost the title because of her stubbornness. Apparently not

i know the easy way is not Mao´s filosophy BUT , sometimes is just being smarth, Mao has nothing to prove to figure skating history, she can win with the 2A and anyone will say she doesn´t deserve it.

Oh yeah

I think Ksenia beat Mao on TES, it was PCS that were lower.

I know it was smarter to do a 2a, but she still won't win with it. And she knows it, like it or not , next season she will need this 3a like an air. Without 3a, for the judges Mao is like an average skater with average PCs. About PCS, her pCS is low because of the fall, even if she 2footed her 3a, her PCs would be higher.

maybe because of mao's fall on the 3A.. ashley wagner might attempt a much easier jump combination..

I think they are leaving place for Akiko, should she skate with no mistakes. Just like last year Mao was lowballed to make place for Miki - and Miki got very good PCS, close to YuNa's.
Sadly, since CoP was introduced, if a World team consists of 2-3 skaters capable of winning a medal, only one of them gets truly good scores even if others skate fairly well. I've seen this happen to Mao, Miki, Akiko, Nobunari, Yukari, Fumie, Daisuke, Takahiko... Not to mention the skaters from other countries.

It's pretty annoying considering the fact that this season many commentators and fans who watched Mao live mentioned that the quality of her skating was superb (10-worthy, according to Chris and Nicky), but her scores don't reflect this at all.

PChan is skating with the same number as Mao Dai is in the second to last group and Yuzu and Taka are in the last one.

As long as Mao is in the final flight, I think it's ok. Ashley has problems with UR at 2footed jumps too

EDIT: Ashley is nervous, 3F step out, 3L-2T and 2A. I hope this won't be better than Mao's score

Ashley wasn't exactly on fire today also.

Mao will be fine tommorow, and it will be interesting to see wheter she will go for a 3-3 or not, I think Mao still has a shot at the gold tommorow when looking at how everyone skatet, and don't forget besides the 3A Mao seems to be in good condition

Her heart just wasn't in it. We'll see what happens with Black Swan. I'm thinking she won 4CC and US Nationals solely because of the US crowd. The energy really drives her.

Mao always says that by putting 3a, it motives her.. but I wonder if it really does. Because messing up her 3a means a lot: it means, your GOE and PCS go down, it gives bad impression to the judges....and what more, it gives great motivation to other skaters so they are likely to skate very well.

If Karo skates clean, she'll be around 10 pts higher than Mao.

My prediction was unfortunately right. With a 3a, she won't mark over 60. With this margin with Alena, I doubt she'll be on the podium.

Also, I don't think it's always the media's fault. Of course, they put pressure on her. But looks like the 3a comes from Mao herself. Even Coach Sato can't get her mind changed.

Come on Mao. Please listen to your coach.

I think it's safe to say Mao is in the final flight, but the points matter too, let's see how others perform. Akiko and Caro have the ability to go over 66 if they are clean.
Gosh Mao, had she landed a clean 2A she would have been first it's frustrating.

i think so too. she had home-court (well, rink) advantage. now it's just a few flags up for her. (not meaning it to sound offensive)

The scores seem to be pretty low overall, I feel a little better now. There is a chance to make it to the final 6.

According to the slow mo Ashley's 2L in the combo was not 100% rotated. I think Amano saw an opprotunity to hit the < button

But I am happy Mao is in second place. It could be much worse...
There is still a chance Mao will make tyhe final group. And I hope that if the 3A will not start working in practice, coach Sato will ask Mao to jump 2A.

Low score for Ashley, I'm not sure I agree with Alena having 2 points higher PCS than her. For that matter, Ksenia's PCS should be closer to Alena's as well (I actually preferred Kshusha).

IMHO, PCS-wise, I'd have 1.Mao 2.Ashley 3/4. Alena or Elene (Alena - higher SS and PE) 5.Ksenia, but with Ch and Tr higher than Alena.
