| I see it that way, Mao wants to add 3a to her short and 3-3 to her Long. 3a,3f-2lo,3lo. And 3lo,2a-3t,3f-3t,3lz,3s,3lo-2lo-2lo, 3f. Or both 3a,2a-3t,3f,3lz,3s,3f-3lo,3lo-2lo-2lo. | |

She can't do 3Lo, 2A-3T, 3F-3T, 3Lz,3S, 3Lo-2lo-2lo, 3F because she would repeat 3 triples: 3T, 3F and 3Lo

it's more likely the opposite I think it's more likely that Mao will add a 3-3 in the sp and replace the 3lo with a 3A in the free

Which is strange, too, considering how much she worked on it! So, maybe something like this: 3A, 2A+3T, 3F+3Lo, 3Lz, 3S, 3Lo+2Lo+2Lo, 3F+2Lo. I hope they add some transitions before the 3S so it will be in the second half and receive the 10% bonus!

I always forget. Which is the 3-3 combo with highest value? From triple-triple 3lutz-3loop. But no one is doing it now. combos with loops are much more difficult. Oh I remember Miki did that combo, right? I don't know if I should post this here on in the Japanese National thread, but since everyone came back to this one. I'll leave it here Another video of Mao https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nzJkl5wLJqs - Abdiel wrote:

I always forget. Which is the 3-3 combo with highest value? From triple-triple 3lutz-3loop. But no one is doing it now. combos with loops are much more difficult. Theoretically, the 3-3 with the highest base value is a 3A-3Lo. 3A combos are exceptionally rare in the ladies' field, and I know only Mao (3A-2T and 3A-2Lo, but the latter never in competition) and Midori Ito (3A-3T in practice for Olys). Among the feasible 3-3 jumps, yes, a 3Lz-3Lo has the highest base value. Remember that loop combos with the loop at the back end of the combo are more difficult to do because only the landing leg from the front end propels the skater into the back end of the combo. 3-3Lo users are rare, and these include Mao (3F-3Lo), Tara Lipinski (3Lo-3Lo), Miki Ando (3Lz-3Lo) and Adelina Sotnikova (3lz-3Lo). Many others use the 3T as the second jump (Kim, Kostner, Tuktamysheva).
OH TBH that 3A combo didn't even come to my mind cuz I guess I never seen it before. It was attempted?

| I will be thrilled and thoroughly impressed if Mao does any 3-3, and I think she should just do whichever one she feels most comfortable with. She already scores high without a 3A or 3-3. She doesn't need a very difficult 3-3, especially if she does the 3A again too. She doesn't have a whole hell of a lot left to prove either. She's already challenging herself so much. I don't want the 3-3 thing to be a bigger deal for her than it has to be. | |

The only women who have landed 3A combos are Midori Ito (3A+2T in competition at the 1991 NHK Trophy and Nationals, and 3A+3T in practice, you can see it here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQgR0cBsK4Y and here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PKs7NFGnkOk , then Tonya Harding landed 3A+2T at the 1991 skate America SP https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uVz07QH2USM and then our Mao that landed a lot of 3A+2T and attempted a 3A+2Lo at the 2006 Junior Worlds SP, she didn't land it, but I guess that she could in practice if she tried it in comp... I don't know about any lady who has actually landed 3A+3Lo even in practice...

it's more likely the opposite I think it's more likely that Mao will add a 3-3 in the sp and replace the 3lo with a 3A in the free I think so too, at least this is the best way to go, imo. If she puts 3A in the sp, it puts her under a lot of pressure, not to mention it also costs her a lot if 3A isn't successful, meanwhile, in the LP she can make it up in case of a mistake on 3A. But then this is Mao, so anything is possible... - Mao2012 wrote:

I think this combo is impossible for women to do and I think it's also insanely difficult for men. Has anyone (men, women) ever done it in competition?

| I'm back again cause I found something I strongly felt I should let you know. Sumitomo Seimei (a life insurance company) has started an event on the net in which you can send direct messages to Mao (but they will check the contents first so to disclude rude messages)! They will accept messages until March 31st, so you can use it to send encouragement messages to Mao for 4CC and Worlds. http://mao-asada-ouen.jp/Unfortunately the site is written only in Jpnse, but I checked and found out it's possible to send messages in Eng, so if you want to participate, the instructions are as below: This is the top page of the messaging event. Click the large red button circled in blue to start. The terms concerning participation in this event is written here, but there isn't anything important in it, just the usual stuff to be careful about copyrights and stuff, so just click the circled part which says 'I agree to the terms' and move on. Write your nickname, message and choose the font you like here. But be careful about the following: 1. No messages concerning Sochi Olys is allowed. (Probably because Mao hasn't been chosen yet to go to Olys) 2. No inappropriate (I think they mean vulgar of hostile) nicknames are allowed. 3. Your nickname must be within 10 symbols / You can only use hiragana and chinese symbols or just numbers. 4. Your message must be within 30 symbols, letters or numbers and also must be written within 3 rows. 5. Your messages will be checked and then be sent to Mao, plus they will be introduced in this site from Jan 9th 2013. *since you can only write very short messages, it might be better to write a simple message in Eng, and use auto-translation to turn it into Jpnse and copy-paste it. Chinese symbols work well in shortening the number of symbols. Your nickname and message can be confirmed here, but it might take a few seconds before your message shows up. Be patient and after you see your message on this page, click the red button to submit it, or click the white button to go back to edit your message or nickname. Once you've submitted your message successfully, the above page will appear. If you click the blue button written ' Log into Facebook' in Jpnse which I've circled, you will be given a visual badge as shown next to the photo of Mao, with your FB avatar in it. I haven't tried this part yet, so I'm not sure how it works though...if you want the badge but can't seem to manage to get one, ask someone who can read Jpnse or PM me later on. I'll try this part later and see how it works. | |

Agreed, but I think she might need it to compete with the likes of Ashley and Yu-Na. I'd rather she go for the 3-3 than the 3A even though the 3A is really solid... but as you noted, the 3-3 could be a simple one. Knowing her, though, she is going to go for a 3F-3L.

I don't think it's ever been done by a lady. A man did it back in 1998 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NqxQ6lzb-4I) but the one in the video may receive an UR call by today's judging system.
