It's really too bad about the triple axel... Exactly the same thing happened to Nobu at Four Continents 2 years ago. But what a fighter Mao is for coming back so strongly!!! Happy dance

I must say the judging was really weird at this event... It looks like Caro (while I like her) skated very sloppily and yet got enormous score, while Mao, Yukari and YuNa were undermarked. I really thought that YuNa will be second and Yukari will medal! Nearly every jump except for opening combo was bothed by Caro, while Mao, Yukari and YuNa had only one visible error in each of their programs... And better spins, too. Sad, Lonely

Good things: out of the top 3, Mao got not only the highest PCS, but also the highest GoE! Dance

Bad things: Lvl1 spiral again!!! If it wasn't for this, Mao would be first in the LP!!! Depressed Crying

And I agree, the judging was weird. I'm European, so I root for Carolina... But her jumps and spins were very sloppy, yet she got deducted very little GoEs. I missed most of Yukari's skate due to freezing feed, but it sounded like a great skate, and some people even thought she would win! At least her PCS were good, which she really deserved for a clean skate! Thumbs up!

But poor, poor Miki... Bawling

I really hope the surgery she is sheduled to have will help her. She is such a hardworker and fighter, yet her body fails her so often... Bawling

thanks so much for that article, mao is such a fighter Very Mad

and i am so proud of her for being able to forget about her early mistakes and finish the program strongly! I was literally shaking watching her skate and thought for a moment that yukari was going to win since she landed her triple axel, but it was downgraded and she ended up only getting around 2 point for it. I don't think the difficulty was as high as last year's worlds but it definitely was just as exciting! ROTFLMAO

I was soooooooooooooooooooooo nervous!!! I just watched the competition, I had to tape it because of my figure skating practice. I was shaking!!! And Mao is soo courageous to came back after her fall, she really improved and this program was amazing!!!!!!!! CONGRATULATION MAO !!!!

What a beautiful medal ceremony! The lighting effects, the bouquets, the podium, the song by a choir, everything was a piece of art! This is difinately the most fantastic medal ceremony I've ever seen! And gee, how many national songs might they have practiced? They had great pronanciation in Japanese! The singers, you should highly proud of yourself for your hard work!

Congrats to Mao, Caro, and Yuna!!!!!! You are all teriffic fighters!! I was so moved by the all of them!!! I am sooooo happy that Mao's long-term dream has finally come true! cheers
