Since the introduction of the minimum technical marks for Worlds was introduced, I think a lot of skaters had trouble getting the minimum TES marks specially those from minor feds.

I just saw this on my twitter feed: The minimum scores for Worlds were revised.

Men (SP): 32.00 points (changed from 35.00)
Ladies (SP): 26.00 points (changed from 28.00)
Pairs (SP): 24.00 points (changed from 28.00)
Ice Dance (SD): 29.00 points (unchanged)

Men (FS): 60.00 points (changed from 65.00)
Ladies (FS) 46.00 points (changed from 48.00)
Pairs (FS): 41.00 points (changed from 45.00)
Ice Dance (FD): 39.00 points (unchanged)

To be honest, I had a feeling this would happen, because the TES scores were and still are IMO, very high. Like I said a while back, Worlds is no Olympics where only 30 best qualify. I wish they would just go back to qualifying rounds. I'm willing to bet, that a lot of small Feds are kicking themselves for woting against qualifying rounds. At least before, their skaters were able to compete at worlds, even if they didn't make it to SP, as opposed to now, where they can't even go.

^^I've read posts about Kiira's withdrawal, too, from both twitter and facebook.

It seems Nan Song will now be at Worlds...

I wish her a speedy recovery. It's better to rest and heal completely, then to rush things and get reinjured.

This is bad news for olympic spots. Finland already has only one spot, so whoever gets to go instead of Kiira needs to finish in top 24, or else Kiira will find herself at Nebelhorn trophy, competing for an olympic spot.

Seems they favor Kovtun instead of Menshov for the men. Good to see Leonova on the team. I hope the reigning silver medalist will be able to bounce back from her not so stellar performances this season.

Yes,federation prefers Maksim,but they have a reason,they want to have one stable man competitor with good PCS,who can be a leader in next decade. Maxim is young and has a lot of potential. Kostya ,well he had a lot of time to deliver,but now he can't be a strong competitor,even he improved this season. I rarely agree with our Federation,but here I think they're right. Kostya is skating maybe his last seasons ,and they're looking for perspective and Maksim is the one.

Looking at the Russian entries seeing three event and only one for the men, I really hope Kovtun will do well and earn another spot for Russia for next season.

Yes I hope they get another spot next year. It seems weird that they only have one. The Russian guys will come back again. It's already happening. Just not very fast... lol.

Yep, official practice starts next monday. Ladies competition is on Thursday and Saturday.

I hope so, Worlds are in Canada, so I'm afraid that they might not broadcast everything or most of it, and instead will just show us top 6 later in the day. I hope Eurosport will prove me wrong. I don't mind staying up whole night to see it live.

Everything will be live here in Canada on CBC and on bold, but I do believe that the videos are restricted to Canada (I live a 3 hours drive from London, I am so sad, boo.)
