| To be honest, I had a feeling this would happen, because the TES scores were and still are IMO, very high. Like I said a while back, Worlds is no Olympics where only 30 best qualify. I wish they would just go back to qualifying rounds. I'm willing to bet, that a lot of small Feds are kicking themselves for woting against qualifying rounds. At least before, their skaters were able to compete at worlds, even if they didn't make it to SP, as opposed to now, where they can't even go. | |

| haven't found the formal news release, but I saw this from twitter few hours ago:
Kiira Korpi Official @kiirakorpi_fi Dear body, would you please cooperate with me better next season?
Then there's already postings from several forums that Kiira withdraws from the Worlds because of Achilles tendon....
Hope she'll get well soon!

| ^^I've read posts about Kiira's withdrawal, too, from both twitter and facebook.
It seems Nan Song will now be at Worlds...

Hope she'll get well soon! I wish her a speedy recovery. It's better to rest and heal completely, then to rush things and get reinjured. This is bad news for olympic spots. Finland already has only one spot, so whoever gets to go instead of Kiira needs to finish in top 24, or else Kiira will find herself at Nebelhorn trophy, competing for an olympic spot.

| For the Russian team:
Pairs: Tatiana Volosozhar/ Maxim Trankov Yuko Kavaguti / Alexander Smirnov Vera Bazarova / Yuri Larionov
Men: Maxim Kovtun
Ice Dance: Ekaterina Bobrova / Dmitri Soloviev Elena Ilinykh / Nikita Katsalapov Ekaterina Riazanova / Ilia Tkachenko
Ladies: Adelina Sotnikova Elizaveta Tuktamysheva Alena Leonova
Seems they favor Kovtun instead of Menshov for the men. Good to see Leonova on the team. I hope the reigning silver medalist will be able to bounce back from her not so stellar performances this season.

| Yes,federation prefers Maksim, but they have a reason, they want to have one stable man competitor with good PCS,who can be a leader in next decade. Maxim is young and has a lot of potential. Kostya ,well he had a lot of time to deliver, but now he can't be a strong competitor, even he improved this season. I rarely agree with our Federation, but here I think they're right. Kostya is skating maybe his last seasons ,and they're looking for perspective and Maksim is the one. | |

| Looking at the Russian entries seeing three event and only one for the men, I really hope Kovtun will do well and earn another spot for Russia for next season. List of entries for Worlds are now up on the ISU Results events page: http://www.isuresults.com/events/fsevent00051438.htmNote: I updated the first post in this thread with the important links: schedule page, event site, participants list...

Yes I hope they get another spot next year. It seems weird that they only have one. The Russian guys will come back again. It's already happening. Just not very fast... lol.

| Can't wait till next week ?
Have we got any news about how Mao and others are training ?
I don't usually go to FSU (to avoid all the negative vibes) but I did now and was surprised to see that Mao is currently winning the poll in ladies who will win at worlds.
Go Mao !!!!
