Takahiko and Mao were really shy when they had to skate together in the finale of Gala!!!  Their reaction towords each other automatically reminded me how they were in this video too!  It so nice to see that they've grown so much but still really adorable like they were in this press conference.  Too bad that the finale wasn't on the broadcast. | |

I read a breif report on a Japanese forum by someone who saw the EX live. It said, the audience tend to cheer more for the men than the ladies (well ofcourse except for Yuna - but that's totally fine with me), so compared to that, I guess it sounded like Mao got less applauds.
Don't worry, it is quite subjective and I can imagine the audience wasn't too enthousiatic about Mao winning over Yu-Na, though maybe not downright rude. I don't know I didn't really pay too much attention to the reaction of the crowd so I can't say, but people might feel differently about it. What I did find quite offending though was the broadcasting of the medal ceremony. You usually don't skip the gold medalist, right?Hmmm...  Never mind, Mao deservedly won and that's the important thing!  | |

 I hope the media doesn't give too much pressure to Mao at the Vancouver OP like they did to Miki about her quad in Torino!!! That was a bit...yeah. I can respect Kitajima as a multiple gold medalist who broke world records, having followed the Beijing Olys pretty extensively. Landing a triple axel in the ladies event is on a different dimension, however, than breaking the world record in swimming disciplines which regularly happens with each competition - especially with breakthroughs in swimsuit technology. And Mao landed two!!!! And one in combination as well! That's an incredible feat.  In my book, that's a heck of alot more impressive than Phelps's multiple gold medal campaign this year, when you consider the number of events swimmers can participate in...a good chunk of them being team events (not to take away from his accomplishments, of course).  I'm actually glad that the Japanese media backed off from Miki (mostly because they don't expect her to medal anymore)  - without the pressure she was able to challenge the 4S for the first time in years, and I think she regained some confidence again.  This does mean that more attention will be given to Mao yet again tho....  But Mao will be fine - she thrives under pressure; NHK and this GPF proved that.  I'm looking forward to Nats next week.  | |

| WHOA!  Mao looks so grown-up and gorgeous! But isn't she smiling? She looks so serious! Here is a video of Mao returning to Japan http://www.fnn-news.com/news/headlines/articles/CONN00145930.htmlApparently there were about 300 people waiting for her - enough that they had to call in the security guards/police! And Mao was surprised to see so many people!  In the interview, Mao says "Combining the short and the free, I am pleased with everything, so I want to face the next competition in this condition. After relaxing [removing my fatigue] a little bit, I'll look to Japan Nationals, where I want to try to do two triple axels and do everything without any mistakes." Looks like Shanetta Folle [I want to call her Shanna-sensei] is staying with her in Japan again. | |

| A big thank you to everyone for posting all the beautiful pictures from the banquet! Mao and Yu-Na look fabulous. And it looks like there was a mini-Aichi reunion after all. Goodness me. This is just embarrassing to read. Ugh. I agree with you. It's just embarrasing to read. I visited 2ch a few times, but gave up after reading some really nasty words. I still visit dcinside occassionally - sometimes the users post some rare photos or homevideos. As I can't read Korean I'm not bothered by the posts ( ), unless they are well visualized with pictures or videos. However, some users on dcinside forced me to install Firefox extensions that block Flash and unwanted scripts. The forementioned users have a "nice" habit of embedding into their posts a handful of links/youtube videos which open automatically as you open the post. A perfect method to increase the hit number on Youtube videos bashing Mao... while freezing my laptop, which is just not fast enough to handle that many videos playing simultaneously. But enough of that, because this topic makes me depressed.  The banquet pictures are just beautiful! It was great to see the mini-Aichi reunion. | |
