| ballerinamao, I think all of us want more info about Mao and her family but at this point in time, let us all give them a break. In due time they will let everyone know. They've already mentioned that. How long that will take we don't know but we have to give them the time to be with each other, with their loved one, undisturbed. | |

the most tragic about it is that her mother dies just before Mao landed and was at the hospital! so very sad. i'm hoping it was a comfort to mao to have mr. and mrs. sato with her when she landed. heartbreaking to have such news broken to her. dear mao. so strong. so amazingly strong. except for the exerpts batsuchan shared, there were few hints that mao was carrying this load of worry about her mom's condition all this time. mao is no doubt strong, but it doesn't take away our wish to somehow ease her burdens. i am glad she and mai have each other. i'm sure they have a whole nation's warm thoughts, but any idea if they have a big extended family to lean on? i know mao is already a legal adult, but skaters tend to be sheltered (look at PChan's recent interview, for instance), and i wonder if, aside from mai, who's clearly a wonderful big sister, there's some other older adult who can also watch over mao's well-being, mao's future. if akko, dai and yuzuru hadn't said something like they would skate well in mao's stead, i wouldn't care much about this GPF at all.

| Akiko didn't do a 3f-3t, she did a 3f,turn out and added a 2t. Everything else was fine. Carolina had the only clean skate today. Liza did a 3l-3t and then everything went downhill, doubled loop(i think i can say she singled it), weird landing on 2a. Mao, we miss you Sorry, misspelled 3flip . I'm so used Akiko doing a 3t-3t(

No, she didn't. I think she decided to go for 3F-3T, but made a mistake on the landing of the 3F and only added a 2T. It is a sad competition, I couldn't care less about the results.

Mao, we miss you Agree. Maybe the news about mao is affecting everyone. was completely shocked, when Liza's score appeared. Akiko is 5 points behind Caro, she can still do it. Come on Akiko, you can do this!!!! I so don't want to see Caro on top of that podium.

I can't say for sure, but Liza is the one who can understand Mao the most, She lost her father this year in april.

| For who is still in the mood to watch this competition, Short dance is currently taking place, the first group finished, now it's warm up. You can watch it here: http://www.hahasport.com/v-2/14/6/v-340656.htmlI am speechless with what happened to Mao. I'm 21 years old too and my mum is 48 years old...I can't possibly imagine the feeling, it must be excruciating. this is very very very sad. | |

| I feel a lil bit frustrated with the circumstances at times!... Look how the calamity that befell on Mao has affected this competition! To think that she could have won this... I am extremely sad for her. She has Mai and all her friends but in such a situation one feels alone... I really hope Akiko wins the competition! Maybe it was nerves for Liza - The atmosphere must be really dark at the rink... | |

I can't say for sure, but Liza is the one who can understand Mao the most, She lost her father this year in april. I was just coming over to this thread to mention that. Someone on FSU said Mao's loss probably reminded Liza of her own loss and that affected her. They were both so young, and to have such a massive loss....I'm sad and heartbroken for both of them. Liza has renewed respect from me at how much of a fighter she is.

As I read the protocol, Dai is currently in the 5th place, even lower than Hanyu. Dai only got 76 in his SP, which is far lower than what he could do. Maybe he is upset about Mao's mother as well
